Town and Country Current Comments Mixes Quakes and Regional Tales
Local notes recount a southern California earthquake felt by Wayne Duchart waking his parents and neighbors in the area. Curiosities include Europe tours by Dave and Linda Kirk, Edythe Womack’s Tennessee honors, and humorous items about mailboxes, tractors, and local figures, ending with agricultural nostalgia and 1898 society details.

Farm Notes: Update on Alfalfa, Mould Toxin, and Cropping Talks
Agricultural notes report progress toward non bloating alfalfa by reducing a troublesome protein. A newly found toxin on mouldy wheat may link heated wheat to cattle deaths, but proof is unsettled. Saskatchewan studies suggest treated seeds pose little contamination risk to game birds, yet dressed seeds could. A Brandon seminar on February 26 covers wild oats Canada thistle ergot and rapeseed, seed treatment and crop opportunities.
