Midge infestation controlled by early detection and treatment

Ag Rep John Patterson reports that 1993 wheat fields in the Hamiota Manitoba area require close monitoring for wheat midge. Past damage in two fields reached 40 and 30 percent. Early detection and treatment before egg laying can prevent losses with chemicals Furadan Cygon and Lorsban costing 3 to 6 dollars per acre.
