Blanshard Council Minutes Review December 19 1985

The R M of Blanshard held its December 19 1985 council meeting with Reeve English and officers present. Delegates discussed price quotes and machinery purchases while several resolutions authorized grants, tax sales, cairn designation, and office closures.

Oak River Sunday School presents The Huron Christmas Carol

Oak River Sunday School and youth groups directed by Denise Henry held the White Gift Service on December 8. Ruth Stewart led the service with Megan Forsyth lighting the Advent candle, and Pat Greenway and Carmen Neal guided the Messengers acrostic. The play The Huron Christmas Carol portrayed the nativity from the Indian view, followed by the Junior Choir led by Barbara Angus singing the hymn. A collection of 104.50 was donated to Ronald McDonald House Winnipeg, and the white gifts went to Westman Women’s Shelter Brandon.

Drop-In Update Card Night and Lunch Details

On Monday December 9 two tables played ten whist at the Drop-In with May Born Max Born Muriel Stowe in attendance. Bill Peel led high and Bill Leary low. lunch was supplied by Lorna Rowan and Marg Leary. Bridge on December 12 drew 16 players with Maude Leland providing lunch. Pearl Hanlin had high score and Doris Peel low.
