Memories of Early Days in Manitoba Journey
A personal reminiscence recounts leaving Edinburgh in 1883 aboard the Grecian from Glasgow for Montreal, then Brandon. The writer recalls starting work at McLean Hardware at thirteen, finding a five dollar bill, and the long trek by ox wagon to a Manitoba homestead. Includes family moves, early farming life, and first cattle ventures with McLean brothers and Uncle George Rankin, ending with an 1889 dry year note and a promise to continue.
