Frederick Fries of 125 Booth hind street died Friday at Mercy hospital at 56 after Thursday surgery to remove cancer from his liver. An autopsy found a large liver cancer. Fries, a longtime resident and visitor to Balen, Germany, leaves a widow and four sons, Frederick, Joseph, Ralph, and another. He was active in Catholic Knights chapters and St. Stephen's Men’s Society. Funeral expected Monday morning.
