The Christian Endeavor society of the First Presbyterian plans to lead the Sunday evening service with four short addresses on Endeavor work. A cordial invitation is extended for all to attend and enjoy the service.
City Attorney John F. Neilan presented a revisedtog license ordinance duplicating provisions from the old text. It fixes a 50 cent nightly fee without discrimination and appoints a dog watcher at 60 dollars a month for May 16 to September 15. The measure, drafted to reflect council ideas, passed with Democratic and Republican support and Socialist opposition, and will be reconsidered next week.
A W Duvall of Shandon has won honors in DetroitMichigan college of law. In the annual oratorical contest among six contestants the freshman who will graduate in 1914 received the George F Monaghan gold medal for the best ovation. His subject was The Patriot in Politics. Duvall had earlier earned second honors for the same ovation by the University of Valparaiso.
George Neal a minor by his next friend Robert Woodward sues American Rolling Mills Co of Middletown in common pleas court for 10000 damages claiming injuries from operating an iron straightening machine. He alleges violation of state child labor law by employing him at 15 and that the firm failed to insure workers through the state board liability. John J. Hoover attorney.
Members of the A. D. club at Becket Paper mill enjoyed supper and a business meeting. They outlined plans to raise funds for the Geneva fund and promoted the industrial show starting today with sewing, embroidery, and crochet displays. A children's industrial exhibit is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
After eighteen years in the Long & Allstather shops Andrew Schumitt retires and will move from Hamilton to Harrison where his son is in business. He leaves behind relatives and friends in high regard and wishes him great success. A separate note reports a severe earthquake in Antigua on May 16 with shocks felt in St Kitts and Guadeloupe but no damage reported.
