Oxford Miss O'Neal Narrowly Escapes Gun Misfire
In Oxford Ohio a Friday night incident at the Phi Kappa Tau house on South Main street involved an accidental discharge of a .45 revolver. Mrs Y H J O'Neal was in her front yard when a bullet nearly struck her, as John Willoughby a temporary student involved in handling the weapon claimed accident. Mayor Hughes investigated, Willoughby was fined 10 plus costs after arrest by Marshal John Sheard. A man named Ainsley who claimed to be a manager at the house narrowly caused further trouble when questioned by the mayor.

Cameron Held on $500 Bond in Assault Case
Nathan Cameron of Hamilton faced charges of assault with intent to kill and carrying concealed weapons after a crowded Saturday night session in Mayor J. S. Hughes court. Witnesses testified Cameron beat John Andrews over the head with a stick. Cameron claimed he bit Andrews to seize the concealed blackjack, which Andrews allegedly owned. Cameron was bound over to the grand jury in $800 bonds per charge and jailed, both men described as Black.

In Middletown Ohio August 82 year old Miss Halley of Georgetown road was found dead on her bedroom floor after breakfast was missed. An empty poison bottle was found beside her. Coroner Edward Cook ruled accidental poisoning as the cause of death.
