The brick Central avenue building near Sixth collapsed at 11 oclock while remodeling. Two dead recovered, three believed missing, and others possibly trapped as rescuers search the ruins. The collapse may have been caused by removal of supporting pillars. The shoe store owner was among those affected.

Smelser Dies At 80 In Butler County

Louis Smelser an elderly retired farmer of Morgan township Butler county died Saturday morning in Van Wert Ohio at age 80 years 4 months and 17 days from general debility. His remains will be taken to Hamilton Sunday for funeral arrangements. He is survived by daughters Miss Susie Smelser and Mrs Daniel Flinn eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Perry Smith to Lead County Board as New Term Opens

The board of county commissioners will reorganize Monday and Perry R. Smith will assume duties as president of the board. Commissioner Conrad will be ushered into office again and the present board will serve until next year when a new board must be elected under the act.

Streetcar Derails on High Street Stop Traffic

About 8 o clock Friday night a street car jumped the track on High street between Fourth and Fifth streets and swung across both rails. The derailment blocked all cars at the spot until the vehicle was returned to the rails.

New York Bank Statement Declines in Reserve and Deposits

The New York bank statement for September 14 shows a legal reserve drop of $453,650 and a further decrease of $375,000 after adjustments. Specie falls by $1,407,500 while legal tenders rise $450,700 and deposits drop $1,632,600. Circulation increases by $172,200.

Arthur Curliss reports his bicycle was stolen from in front of 1021 Campbell Avenue while he dined Saturday noon. Police are investigating the theft and seeking information on the missing wheel.

Rocks Shattered Car Window On Friday Night

An unknown person while the C., H. & D. railway No 33 train was between Chestnut and Wood streets hurled two rocks through a parlor car window. The stones missed several passengers as glass shattered, causing injuries only to property. Investigation to identify the culprit will follow.

County awards bridge repair contracts in Riley Morgan Lemon townships

The county commissioners awarded contracts Saturday for bridge work. Clem Delaney will build a head wall and repair a superstructure at the Vanness farm in Riley township for 721.75 dollars. Suit To Settle The Frechtling Estate

A major estate settlement suit was filed in the local common pleas court by Walton S. Bowers and Shotts Mil likin for Henry Frechtling Jr and John Frechtling as executors of Henry Frechtling Sr. The case names William H. Frechtling and heirs as defendants. Funeral Held for Mrs. Mary Ruhl in St Stephen’s Parish

Miss Grace Chambers Dies in Illinois Visit at 17

Miss Grace Chambers aged 17 daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Chambers of near Reiley died yesterday in Illinois from stomach trouble. She had been visiting her sister for several weeks and death was unforeseen. Remains will arrive in Reiley Monday and interment will take place in Reiley cemetery.
