Phone Hearings On United Telephone Rate Increase
Hearings before the Iowa Commerce Commission addressed United Telephones proposed rate increase filed last August. The company faces questions on business line charges including 14 to 21 dollars per month for two lines, with claims the policy shifts costs to two-line customers. An economist testified profits are confiscatory, asserting rates are too low and returns depend on original plant investment.
