Applications Open for Farm Youth Exchange Program
Applications are invited for the International Farm Youth Exchange program for ages 20 to 30. Delegates live with host families abroad for about three weeks and urban families for ten days, promoting world understanding. Guthrie County hosts are urged to contact the local extension office. the program is funded by 4-H and friends of 4-H.

Navy Veteran Rites Held for Donald Bailey
Graveside services were held Saturday at Union Cemetery for Donald Bailey 48 of Norwich Conn a 20 year Navy veteran born in Guthrie Center he attended school there before entering the service The Rev Milton Kinney and the American Legion officiated He was married to Mary Esther Bohlender and they had three children Darb Derry and a son Dan He is survived by a sister Mrs Merle Kent of Guthrie Center and other relatives

North Central Evaluators To Tour Guthrie Center School
Guthrie Center will undergo a North Central Association evaluation of its secondary education program from April 5 to 7. Principal Glen Hunerdosee states the study covers faculty, library, guidance, administration and activity programs, with Dr. LeRoy Jensen chairing the steering committee. The NCA accredits about 3750 schools in its 19 state region.

Services were held Monday morning at the Ch lan church for Sam Sloss Sr. age 85, retired Guthrie County farmer who died Friday evening at Guthrie county hospital. Bud Messenger died Saturday afternoon of a heart attack at his home. Services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm at the Christian church with Rev. Jerry Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Monteith Cemetery. Messenger was a bus driver north of Cata Center and is survived by his wife Clea, two sisters Gladys Musseneer and Mix Anee HeeXmin, and brothers Nelson of Adair and Lee of Metha.

First Banquet for Guthrie Center Wrestlers Set
The first annual Guthrie Center Wrestlers Banquet will be held Thursday evening in the elementary school building. Coach Lares Brandt will give the athletic speech. Benning, wrestling coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is expected to attend with squad members who have won HAVEN titles. The dinner is a public event and the junior high wrestling team will be invited.

Hospital to receive gift funds for in-room oxygen system
Guthrie County TB and Health Association earmarks a AS83000 gift from Health Asset to Guthrie County Hospital to install a piped oxygen system in every room. The project, funded by Christmas Seals proceeds, aims to improve safety and convenience by eliminating room tanks.
