Pre School Class For YJB Under Title I

A pre-kindergarten program at YJB school opens April 3 after state approval under Title I. Running through May 28, it invites all parents of pre-kindergarten children to a Bagley school meeting to explain the plan. Children will have vision and hearing checks and orientation with staff and equipment. Extra-learning opportunities allow two hours of afternoon classes for six weeks, with final week for parent conferences for those entering kindergarten next fall.

Deer Huddle Pickup Strike Kills One Deer Near Bagley

A herd of deer caused about 1000 dollars in damage to a pickup driven by James LeRoy Bryan seven miles south of Bagley. One deer was killed and several crippled when the animal crossed the road. No charges were filed in the incident.

The Veterans Administration spent 362804 in Guthne county in the last fiscal year, per Claude Gillam, Des Moines VA director. Iowa total expenditures reached 125.3 million for veterans and dependents, plus 44386 for GI bill education and rehabilitation, 44362 for insurance and indemnities, and 15400 for direct home loans. Included is over 31.1 million for construction regional office and hospital costs.

Faculty Board At YJB Agree To Salary Terms

YJB faculty and school board reached a salary agreement last week with base pay for a B S or B A set at 6950, a 250 rise. The increment schedule remains 200 for one year, 250 for five years, 200 for one year, then 190 for the ninth year. Maximum B A salary 8940. Full health and hospital insurance keep benefits. Contracts due March 23.

15th State Tournament Entry Returns Home Cage Queens

The Guthrie Center girls basketball team, returning from Des Moines after the Star Tournament, arrived home at 1:30 p.m. The caravan traveled to Midway Café where firemen gave them a ride on fire trucks. Linden man Leslie Ray Shelley, 23, died Saturday night in a car accident east of Perry. Services are pending at Beidelman Funeral Home. Claude Bonker Dies at Home Rites Scheduled
