Old Guthrie Center Home Tore Down For New Structure
The Tracy house, among Guthrie Center’s oldest, was built in May 1854 by William Tracy, founder of Guthrie Center, and torn down last week by owner Gifford Covault. Covault weighs options for a new building, possibly a fourplex, after acquiring the property in 1969. The residence changed hands many times from 1854 to 1969, with Art Cameron retaining it longest before Covault’s purchase.
