Rural Carriers to Gain Pay Increases in New Mileage Rule
Decatur county rural letter carriers will see higher salaries starting July 1 as a Senate approved law sets 24 miles as the standard rural route length. Current pay for routes of 24 miles or more is 1000 dollars yearly, with 74 dollar raise for 24 mile routes and 44 75 dollars per additional mile or fraction thereof.

Death of Gus Garriott
Word arrived from Los Angeles of the death Saturday night of Gus Garriott. He formerly operated in Indianapolis in the wholesale drug business and was longtime superintendent of the North Park Christian church Sunday school. Survived by relatives in Indianapolis and by Frankie Galloway and two children from Hartsville. He was about fifty years old and had previously trained as a traveling representative for Mooney Mueller Drug Co. in Indianapolis.

Judge Wiley to Speak at Greensburg Patriotic Service
The Christian church plans a Sunday evening service on June 30 at 7 30 with Judge Ulrich Z Wiley of Indianapolis delivering a patriotic address. Wiley served on the State Appellate Court for fourteen years beginning in 1897 and is a friend of local judges D A Myers and J K Ewing. He is brother to chemist Harvey W Wiley and has taught a men’s Bible class. Greensburg citizens are urged to attend with reserved seats for men and women guests alike.

Divorce Case Ends in Favor of Husband Ruddick
The ten day trial before special judge G L Tremain concluded with a judgment for Baker S Ruddick granting an absolute divorce and denying alimony to his wife on cross complaint. The court found Mrs Ruddick had remarried, was cruel to her husband, and that the affair with Miss Marie Bryan was platonic. They married thirteen years ago, separated two, then remarried another year later amid turbulent life. this was the seventh divorce action. Ruddick, said to be worth about $100 000, was thirty five at the time of his marriage. the wife cried as the decision was read.
