Richard Lacey and Andrew Muldoon faced a jury in the mayor's office on Friday for an alleged riot attempt. After five minutes of deliberation the jury found Lacey not guilty on riot charges while Muldoon’s charges were dismissed. Lacey remains charged with assault and battery with no hearing date set.
Dr and Mrs L M Henry and their son Frank returned Thursday evening from Asshout Egypt after two weeks on the road They will visit Meek and Hamilton relatives and will sail for home on July 26 They have spent sixteen years as residents with Mr Henry serving as a missionary in Egypt Frank, now a dentist in Cairo, is prospering.

A return trip home ended in a cloud burst near Harris City as Clinton Stoneking was swept from a buggy into floodwaters. Neighbors rescued him after hours in the water with Scott Taylor and John Ferris aiding on horseback and by swimming. Dozens of chickens drowned, farmsed damaged corn fields, and roads washed out along the L and C line.
Flood damage washed away over one hundred feet of the traction line grade where the ditch from the Oklahoma addition crosses the wash-out. Rails and ties hung over a deep chasm as crews worked from midnight to complete repairs.

His horse bolted after a delivery wagon, running east on Sher idan to Broadway then south to Washington before entering the court house park and grazing. The buggy was wrecked at the hitch rack where it struck a tron post and the horse shed its harness in strings.
Barry Begley a Cincinnati born brakeman on freight train No thirty nine was brought to the city after a late night fall at Sunmans. His foot slipped while boarding the engine and struck the knee cap against a driver journal box, initially feared dislocation but diagnosed as a severe bruise.
Word reached Ed Schultz on Saturday of the death of his uncle George Schultz in Topeka Kansas at 9 40 am due to peritonitis after a brief illness He was seventy seven years old and had earlier lived in Greensburg as a partner in the undertaking and furniture business with his brother the late William Schultz He leaves a widow and several children.
About six o clock Saturday morning Mrs James Spilman received burns to head face and hands when she attempted to start a fire in the cook stove. She turned on the gas at the bottom and lit a match, causing a small explosion. A physician dressed the wounds and no serious scars or disfigurement are feared.
Jesse W. Ailes, ex member of Co. H, 161st Indiana Volunteers, and Miss Mae Thompson of Franklin county wed Thursday at Rev. Taylor’s home in Falmouth. They plan to settle in Buena Vista where Ailes will spend the coming winter. Ailes, now a respected local figure, taught the last term at the Hamilton schoolhouse nearby.
