The report by Frank McCord, assessor of Marion township, shows a clear rise in real estate and personal property values compared with prior years. Real estate and improvements are assessed at 544,845.00, up 97,435.00 from four years ago, while personal property is 127,345.00, up 32,550.00 from last year.
Saturday evening a two round fight on the west side of the public square involved J. W. Rucker of the Graphic New Era and Alfred Barnes a rural mail carrier. Barnes pleaded guilty to assault and battery and was fined one dollar plus costs with suspended sentence.
Constable Moses Ferris bought a fine bicycle last week and shipped it to his son in Anderson as a present. A letter from the son reports a sneak thief stole the wheel before it could be ridden.
Saturday afternoon on Main street George Kelly and Miss Sadie Smiley faced a runaway horse after a streetcar scare near the DeArmond Hotel. Kelly was thrown from the buggy but held the lines and stopped the horse, escaping with only slight bruises and praise for his cool head.
Reports from three Greensburg national banks reveal deposits subject to check totaling over 1.28 million dollars. Individual bank figures include 479,379.39 at Greensburg bank and 315,152.28 at another, with overall deposits exceeding a million and a quarter locally, not counting Trust Company and nearby banks in Westport Newpoint Clarksburg and St. Paul.

Lewis Maddox died at his home in Asheville North Carolina at age eighty six. His remains were sent to Rushville for burial last week. A former resident and local businessman he was the only surviving charter member of Decatur lodge No 103 J O O F joining at its organization December 4 1851. His picture hangs in the lodge room.
Ad Adkins pleaded guilty to assault and battery against Sam Coulter in Mayor Thomson's court. He received a 30 day jail term and a $25 fine plus $10 costs totaling $35. The editorial suggests stronger measures to curb street fighting.
Dr. D. W. Weaver was elected second vice president at Indianapolis meeting of the state organization of Homoopathic physicians. He previously served as secretary of the County Board of Health and was a member of the U S pension board, praised for his service and expected to be an efficient officer in his new role.

A happy family reunion was held at the home of Misses Kate and Dora Dickerson on East North street in Sun Day. Relatives present included their brother John H. Dickerson and wife from Terre Haute, sister Mrs. Lillian Miller and husband, and sister Mrs. Will Dobyns from Brookville. All siblings gathered at the dining table except Will Dickerson who is in New York.
Postal cards with a Hartsville College picture invite more than 1,500 recipients to a general reunion on August 22, 1907 at the Hartsville College Campus. The notice extends a cordial invitation to all former students in the city.
Westport announces a baccalaureate sermon for the graduating class of the common schools next Sunday at the Baptist church. Commencement exercises follow Tuesday evening at the same church with Rev. P O Dunacan delivering the class address. Graduates are Irvin McCullough Josephine Manuel Geraldine Keith Dora Thomas Mae Whalen Chester Robinson Florence Lowe William Deupree Elmont Stewart Edna Howe Earl Shafer Clifford Harrell.
A Friday storm brought lightning to the Liberty church area. Marion Thompson’s barn caught fire but was quickly doused by Thompson and his brother Frank, who were in the barn and received a slight shock. A nearby S A Davis barn also took a strike with minimal damage, and a yard shade tree was hit injuring Mrs. Davis and Emmet Beard, who was driving home. one mule was briefly severely shocked.
