The State Services for Crippled Children will conduct a diagnostic and evaluation clinic at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City on Friday October 7. Eligible patients are under 21 referred by a physician or dentist from Worth Mitchell Howard Cerro Gordo Chickasaw Franklin and Butler counties. Last year 3660 patients attended the one day clinics with no fee for services.

Two Men Fined for Public Intoxication on Highway
Paul Donald Slinders of Clarksville and Clarence Eugene Hovenga, 22, of Apington, were arrested by Roy Hauser of the highway patrol near Shell Rock Saturday night on intoxication charges. They were arraigned Sunday in J. P. Court in Allison and fined $10 each, paid the fines, and were released from the county jail.

Winnebago Area Council Cub and Boy Scouts across nine Iowa counties conduct Good Turn Day Clothing Drive for Goodwill Industries on October 8 and 15. Cubmaster James Drake will deliver bags to Greene homes on October 8, with Scoutmaster Henry Smeins returning October 15 to collect filled bags for central storage and pickup by Goodwill trucks a week later. The drive seeks clothing, shoes, small toys, repairable appliances, kitchen utensils, drapes, curtains, bedding, and cloth. newspapers and magazines are not accepted. Rites Held for Mrs Anna Tiemens in Greene Iowa
Anna Henrietta Tiemens born February 16 1876 in Osteel Germany died after a heart attack September 23 in Greene Iowa at age 84 years 7 months 8 days. She married Dick Tiemens March 10 1898 at Wilmar and farmed west of Greene until 1933 then lived with her son Harvey west of Greene and moved to Greene in 1955. Survived by son Harvey Bristow daughter Tillie Lord five grandchildren four great grandchildren and brother Peter Tebben of Granite Falls Minnesota. Funeral Monday at St Peter s Lutheran Church Rev I J Devies officiating burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Hamilton s Funeral Chapel in charge.

Martin Arenholz a 47 year old resident of Allison was arrested in Greene on September 19 by Deputy Sheriff Marvin Barth for intoxication. He pleaded guilty in J P Court Greene and was fined 25 dollars plus 13 dollars costs. He paid the fine and costs and was released from the county jail in Allison.

Four Charles City residents were injured in a two car crash one mile south of Greene on highway 14 Sunday at 4 40 PM. Injured were Mrs William Kreimeyer 52 with a fractured elbow and other injuries Mrs George L Sherwood 66 with a fractured jaw and hip William Kreimeyer 57 and George L Sherwood 66 with cuts and bruises. They were taken to Cedar Valley hospital Charles City. Sherwood drove north and turned left into Kreimeyer s southbound car. both 1959 cars were badly damaged.
