Scouts to Attend Greene City Council Meeting

Members of Troop 26 Boy Scouts citizenship merit badge class will attend next Monday night’s Greene City Council meeting. They arrive after the council opens to complete a board of review at 7:30 p.m. and then proceed to City Hall. The program emphasizes home and community participation over academics and aims to form a 3 Second committee to identify a community project with voting at the October meeting.

Three Fined for Littering Highway in Greene County

Larry Lee Slocum age 18 and Dennis Viers age 17 both of Greene were arrested early September 19 on a charge of putting glass and signs on a public highway. They pleaded guilty in Blair Moffett's Greene court and paid 50 dollar fines plus four dollars costs after admitting placing signs tires and blocks on Highway 14. Kenneth Raymond age 15 of Greene also appeared September 20 and pleaded guilty to the same charge, paying 20 dollars plus four dollars costs.

Further Education Day Set For Tuesday

Butler County seniors will attend a morning education fair October 2 at the Farm Bureau Building Allison. Thirty eight? forty representatives from four year colleges junior colleges trade and vocational schools will be on site for consultations. Greene High observes Homecoming with Queen election and parade

Greene High School marks Homecoming this Friday September 28 as Riceville meets Greene in an 8 pm football game. Queen candidates Sara Green Rene Hagarty Joyce Kelly Diane Cheney and JoAnn Backer will be voted on Friday with the winner crowned at halftime. A Thursday pep rally precedes a Friday float parade and halftime ceremonies. The public is invited. The homecoming dance runs 10 pm to 1 am in the school auditorium.

Cub Scouts Deliver Goodwill Bags Across Iowa October 6

The Winnebago Area council announces a Good Turn Day clothing drive by Cub and Boy Scouts in over 50 towns across nine Iowa counties. Bags will be delivered October 6 with returns on October 13, to stock Goodwill Industries for the handicapped. Items needed include clothing, shoes, toys, repairable electrical appliances, kitchen utensils, bedding, blankets, and pillows. Newspapers and magazines are excluded.

Greene High seniors start October subscription drive

The Greene High School senior class launched a subscription drive from October 1 to October 31 to raise funds for the spring class trip and remaining 1982 63 activities. Each student must earn a set fee, after which they may earn for themselves, with duplicate receipts issued. Class sponsors are Mrs Helene Boller LaVerne Kehoe and Nancy Mitchell.

Pleaded Guilty to OMVI Charge in District Court

Peter Ascher, 4s, of Ap lington appeared in District Court on September 18 and pled guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Judge Butler fined $300.60 plus $13.00 cost, paid. Ascher was arrested near Parkersburg on September 15 by the Highway Patrol.
