Pass Punt And Kick Contest Sponsored By Local Ford Dealer

A pass punt and kick contest for 8 9 10 and 11 year olds will be held at the Athletic Field on Sunday October 21 according to Wilbur Klassi local Ford dealer sponsor. Prizes include an athletic jacket for first place runner up helmets for second and footballs for third. Butler County Hits 51 Percent Bond Quota For August

John McWhirter of Alison, county chairman, reported Butler county August savings bond sales at $39,094, raising the night-month total to $585,994 or 51 percent of the annual quota. Iowa August Series E and H sales totaled $8,134,726, eight-month state total $77,794,394, reaching 52 percent of its goal.

New Conservation Aid In Butler County

Daryl Davis will begin duties on October 1 as Conservation Aid for the Butler Soil Conservation District. He replaces Herb Beaver transferred to the State office in Salina Kansas last June. Davis, 34, married with two children, previously served as Conservation Aid in Wayne County District for several years.

County-Wide Career Conference Set For October 16

The first county wide Career Conference will be held Tuesday October 16 at 7 30 pm at the Allison High School building. Dr Ray Bryan head of Vocational Education Iowa State University will be the guest speaker. Two conference sessions will follow with successful men and women explaining their vocations. The event is a joint effort of Butler County Schools and County Extension Service for all high school students and parents. About 25 vocations will be represented and students are completing a questionnaire to determine offerings.

Dairy Group Elects Officers for 1963

The Butler County Dairy Promotion Committee re elected Kenneth Rodman of Clarksville as president for 1963. Harley Hansen of Plainfield was chosen treasurer and Ronnie Miller of Clarksville plus Marvin Westendorf of Allison will serve on the committee. Two vacancies remain to be filled this fall. Plans for the 1963 Daily Day were discussed and will be co sponsored by the Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce and held in Parkersburg in June.

Crabtree Rites Set for Saturday at Reid-Hamilton

Memorial services for George A. Crabtree will be held Saturday October 6 at 2:00 PM at the Reid-Hamilton Funeral Chapel in Greene. Mr. Crabtree died in Ventura California on September 17 and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Greene High School crowns 1962 Homecoming Queen Renee Hagarty

Renee Hagarty was named Homecoming Queen at Greene High School during halftime of the Greene-Riceville game. Her attendants were Sara Green Joyce Kelly Diane Cheney and Jo Ann Backer. The senior class float won top honor and a large crowd attended the festivities with the dance and refreshments served by the student council.

Passion Play to Visit Charles City October 15 18

Butler County Begins Mantoux Tuberculin Testing in Schools

The Butler County Tuberculosis and Health Association will start a Mantoux tuberculin testing program in all county schools on November 5. Mary Chapman RN explains the test, its meaning of negative or positive results, and the follow up with chest X rays for reactors.
