Reading trash and fire safety plea in one column
The piece cites William Ritzi accusing Robert Harrison of profiting from a character assasination magazine whose circulation rose from hundreds of thousands to four million by 1956. It condemns such sensationalism and urges readers to deselect trashy literature in favor of wholesome books. It then promotes Fire Prevention Week and urges action to reduce fire deaths and losses, noting ten thousand lives lost last year and yearly property losses around 500 million dollars. It ends urging readers to protect their own homes.
