Governor Ray attended a Butler County Fund Raising Dinner in the Community Center and, to the youths' astonishment, joined their Christian coffee house on the street. Bruce Markle and Janine Salo led a small delegation to invite him up, he accepted, toured the Was Station with Mrs. Ray, signed the wall, and the group tallies with pride as they recall the moment.

Survivors include three sons Eugene Des Moines Robert Lester of Allison two daughters Mrs Charles Mosher of Allison and Mrs Edith Stirer of Belmond a sister Mrs Ed Westendorf of Allison and a brother Ed DeBower of Allison Vogel Funeral Home in charge.

Holger Peter Geil born November 10 1906 in Walnut Township Palo Alto County was son of Bartel Peterson and Lena Hansen Geil. He was baptized in 1907 and confirmed in 1920, grew up in Graettinger graduating high school in 1926, married Zelma Hoyt in 1933, and worked as a creamery manager and butter maker in various Iowa locations. He moved to Greene in 1952 earning a Master Craftsman rating, retired in 1967, and belonged to St Peter's Lutheran Church Greene, enjoying retirement with family visits.

Marble Rock knitter builds 32nd Afghan since 1964
Mrs Louis Staudt, with neighbor Mrs George Schmidt, joined a Marble Rock knitting class in winter 1964. She has knitted for family members including 22 grandchildren and a late daughter Rose Marie Cousins. She creates afghans for graduates, plus sweaters capes ponchos and baby shawls. She credits knitting with lifting spirits and attends Church Society Ladies Auxiliary Hi Neighbor Club and Senior Covens. She also plays cards in spare time.
