Floyd County sheriff L L Lane reports three arrests in a $400 theft of tools from Lester Smith’s farm near Marble Rock. Jake Kummer, 32, of Charles City, faces grand larceny charges after waiving preliminary hearing and being bound over to a Floyd County grand jury. Rand and Dralle are also charged with grand larceny and held on $2,000 bonds each. Dralle is additionally charged with concealing stolen goods.
Lyle Maxson, local Evinrude dealer, displays the new 90 horsepower outboard that recently set the world speed record. The engine extends Evinrude’s 1964 line and is among four new motors in a 14 model range.

Greene Community high school and elementary school faculty and families will be honored at a reception Monday evening September 23 at 6 15 in the high school gym. A pot luck supper is planned with parents asked to bring a meat dish or casserole and one other dish plus their own table service. The Music Mothers sponsor the event and the Stage Band will perform.
Thieves entered a Mobile Station in Dumont early Friday morning September 13 stealing 3 new tires 4 fan belts and several cartons of cigarettes. The break-in was reported to the Allison Sheriff’s Office which is investigating. Entry was gained through a back window.
The Quarterback Club will take the Rambler football squad to Minneapolis on Sunday September 29 to watch the San Francisco 49ers play the Vikings. Members can donate via Robert Wead or Charles Hay. Tickets sold Friday night or at Mead Drug and other local outlets. The next meeting is Monday September 23 at 7 30 PM in the high school cafeteria. Movies of the Cresco game will be shown. Rand pleaded guilty Tuesday and received a five year sentence.
James David Aswegan 24 of Aplington was arrested September 12 by Parkersburg Marshal Kenneth Cook on a charge of driving with license under suspension. Bond set at $30,000 to next term. he appeared in Dean Wiegmann's court and was released after bond. James Leon Peterson 25 of Hampton was arrested September 13 north of Aplington by highway patrol on driving with license under suspension. He pleaded not guilty in Wiegmann's court. bond set at $12,500 to appear later in Justice Court. he was released.
A Jayoo Chevrolet stolen Saturday night in Shell Rock was found Sunday near the Jake Jacobs farm northeast of Allison. Marvin Barth, deputy sheriff, was notified. Later two runaway boys from the Waverly Lutheran Children's Home admitted taking the car from the James Jurgens residence in Shell Rock and driving until gas ran out.
Mrs Martyn Wunsch has been appointed supervisor of the Youth Center by the Town Council. Organizations, clubs or individuals wishing to use the Youth Center for meetings should contact Mrs Wunsch to reserve dates.
Butler County Conservation Board, at its September 10 1963 meeting, protested the 1963 pheasant season claiming it is too long with an early opening and late closing. They oppose the daily bag limit and fear nonresident hunters will deplete the population and urge private citizens to protest to the State Conservation Commission to revert to previous season lengths.

Mr and Mrs George Hamilton returned home Saturday afternoon after a six weeks trip visiting Corinne Hamilton in Eugene Oregon and Mr and Mrs H L Formes in Daly City California. They also visited their son Herbert Hamilton and family in Visalia California and another son Paul Hamilton and family in Des Moines enroute home.

In the state eight months show 80,502,258 dollars for 68 percent of the annual goal.
The Cub Scouts will hold their meeting at Greene Elementary School this evening at 7 30. Parents and guardians are invited to attend between 8 and 9, including those who will be 8 years old in October.
State Conservation Commission announces inviolate refuges closed to trespass from Sept 15 through the waterfowl season. Areas like Sweets Marsh Tripoli and Biz Marsh Parkersburg partially closed while Plum Creek Settling Savin Forney Lake Snyder Bend and Lonsville Bend along the Missouri River are completely closed to protect and concentrate geese.

The State Conservation Commission reports a brown trout from Hickory Creek set a week record for Iowa brown trout.
