With 200 to 300 Greene supporters present the Rams staged one of their best scrimmages in years. No offensive line penalties in the first period, a strong running game led by Downing and Brinkman, solid blocking by Ponto and Ebling, and a bright passing show with Ebling connecting on 5 of 7 for 56 yards and Backer 4 of 10 for 67. The defense pressured well in the third quarter, and the kicking game featured a 42 yard field goal by Austinson with Nettleton holding. Sophomores impressed against varsity as Sheffield hosts Friday night promises a wild season.

Bain Leavens of Shell Rock died August 28 and was buried August 31 at Shell Rock Cemetery after services at the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife and two sons Richard of Nashua and Duane of Greene.
