Community bids farewell to Elmers at St Peters Greene
The basement gathering at St Peter’s Lutheran Church Greene honored Jerry and Darlan Eimers and their family as they plan a move to Dike. Jerry, longtime Greene High School teacher and boys basketball coach with a 70 percent win rate, was thanked for 20 years serving Greene youth. The program featured Luther Leaguers skits and a plaque from Greene High School, with remarks by Harold Schafer and Pastor Donald Wahlgren.

John Downing and Brad Foster were chosen as captains by teammates for the Rams. Senior turnout shows broad support, with eight seniors receiving votes. The 1976 squad features a larger line, faster speed, and dynamic backs led by Kelly Ebling, Joel Backer, John Downing, Mark Ponto, Doug Ebling, and Jim Brinkman. Funeral services for Herman Rover 77 of Greene were held Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with burial in Rose Hall Cemetery. Rev. Donald Wahlgren officiated. Reid's Funeral Chapel in charge. Survived by wife Elizabeth, one son Dale, four daughters, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rev Van Hooser Ordained at Calvary Baptist Church
An ordination council met on August 17 1976 at Calvary Baptist Church to examine Pastor Van Hooser. The council included 14 pastors and 19 messengers from Regular Baptist Churches across the state. Following their recommendation the church held the ordination service that evening. The ordination message was delivered by Rev Max Deffenbaugh Eldora with charges from Rev James Hartman Shell Rock to the candidate and Rev David Hess Waverly to the church.
