Editor notes that Greene voters will choose a mayor and councilmen next Tuesday. Four people were injured in a Wednesday crash at a rural Nashua intersection. Glenn H. Ikenberry, 75, drove a 1961 Dodge west and turned onto a gravel road into an eastbound 1969 Chevrolet driven by William R. Peterson, 41, of Waterloo. Peterson’s car burned after the collision. bystanders moved the vehicle, Nashua firefighters fought the blaze, and all injured were taken to Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Ikenberry suffered arm, chest, facial, and leg injuries. Leila Gate, 78, a passenger, had a broken arm and facial lacerations. Kenneth Tkenberry, 51, had a bruised nose and leg. Peterson remained in intensive care with a brain concussion and punctured lung. Vehicles sustained extensive damage.
Lewis Keifer has returned home from Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City after undergoing major surgery on October 14.

Mrs. Della Hansen formerly of Nashua died at the Chau tauqua Rest Home in Charles City on Tuesday October 28. Born March 7 1884 in Floyd County to Martin and Marie Schreecer she was preceded in death by husband Joe C Hansen. Survived by five daughters Leonard Paine Mason City Arnold Dixon Grundy Center Louie Juhl Nashua Bernard Hoy Nashua Eildon Reeves Waterloo, three brothers Art Billings Montana Henry El Monte California Frank Morris Minnesota, one sister Oscar Anderson Charles City, fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She had lived with daughter Louie Ju hi before entering the rest home. funeral arrangements pending.
A youth dance will be held at the Veterans Club on Saturday evening November 1. The Creed will provide music from 8:00 PM to midnight. The event will be chaperoned.
The 1968 70 Senior Conference will be held in Greene this Saturday and Sunday, November 1st and 2nd. One hundred fifty girls have pre registered from the northeast area of Iowa. They arrive Saturday morning and depart Sunday afternoon. They will stay in private homes.

Steven ONeill son of Mr and Mrs Charles ONeill was caught in a tractors power take off at home on Wednesday October 22. He sustained a double arm fracture and severe bruising and was hospitalized at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City. He was discharged and returned home on Tuesday.
Greene Community School vocal students join seven-conference honors chorus to be presented in concert Friday November 7 featuring sopranos Nancy Tack Debbie Martzban Kathy Kehoe altos Jane Mehlan Nancy Metzger Diane Debner tenors Lyle Williamson Claire Arhart Calvin Schafer basses Charles Bone Dick Stuntz Larry Lester Paul Glaspie Kent Jacobson. Greene voters head to the polls Tuesday to reelect Mayor William Bamker and four incumbent councilmen David Markle Marvin Nelson Clarence Teeple and Douglas Walker. Challenger Wilfred Griner and Lyle Mathers oppose Bamker. up for four council seats are Richard Krutsinger Richard Pooley Elmer Mennenga Daniel Miller Lyle Schafer Charles Stanton and Orville Stewart with Gordon Anderson not seeking reelection. Polls run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at City Hall.
Butler County Board of Supervisors studied three redistricting plans under the one person one vote law. They chose single-member equal-population districts and must select by November 1, 1969 among plans A to C. A petition by 10 percent could trigger a special election. otherwise the plan stays six years.

Orla J Stanbrough of Aredale died Thursday noon September 11 at Franklin General Hospital Hampton. Born September 17 1881 near Aredale son of Rudolph and Sarah Stanbrough he married Bessie Craig July 25 1917 at Waverly and they farmed near Aredale. Survived by wife seven sons three daughters two sisters thirty six grandchildren and other relatives. Services held September 13 at Green and Seitsema Funeral Home Hampton with Rev W Ray Thompson officiating burial in Harlan Cemetery near Aredale.
North Iowa leads the Iowa Community College Conference football stats with Rich Siemens at the top, posting 17 receptions for 198 yards. Dennis Johnson of Waverly has 12 catches while Tom Stramer of Delhi and Mark O'Donnell of Ellsworth each have 11. NIACC receivers are freshmen.
The Greene Ramblers crushed Rockford 43 to 6 to stay in the race for the conference title. A win at Nashua this Friday night would put Greene in a share of the title with undefeated Nashua and preserve the team’s bid for the “Little Brown Jug.” Greene built a 34–0 halftime lead and extended to 40–0 before Rockford answered late. The Ramblers finish the season at Nashua with a 4–1 conference mark and need strong local support to clinch the title.
RF Pooley was presented a Masonic fifty year pin on Tuesday evening October 21 by the Masonic Lodge Upha 33% with James H. Graxen making the presentation. He also received a paid up life membership to the Masons.
