The Greene community showed strong Ramblers support at Nothan last Friday as Rich Siemens and former Ramblers stirred the crowd. Drivers passing stopped Greene School buses on highway 14 threaten student safety. authorities stress positive ID to prosecute and urge motorists to be vigilant near school buses.

Vocal Honors Chorus At Rockford Friday

The first all conference Vocal Honors Chorus will be at Rockford High School auditorium on Friday November 7. Rehearsal of the Festival Chorus starts 1:00 p.m. with the Festival Concert at 7:30 p.m. at Rockford Auditorium. 84 singers from conference schools participate. no charge for the concert.

Gebhardt Baby Born On Pamela Marie’s Birthday

Mr and Mrs Ernest Gebhardt of Waterloo announce the birth of their son Matthew Glenn on Monday morning November 3 at Scholtz Memorial Hospital. Kickoff Meeting for CROP Drive Set for Monday Evening

The Butler County CROP drive kickoff will be Monday evening at the Lutheran Church in Allison at 7:00 p.m. CROP Sunday is November 16 and the drive runs November 17 through 30. All supervisors and workers are urged to attend.

Progress Cited On School Construction By Supt Grumley

Supt Grumley notes partial use of four rooms at the elementary and bus garage for the new high school addition. Remaining spaces include the industrial arts classroom art room cafetorium kitchen gym and music rooms with a mid February completion target. He cautions the forecast is a guess not a promise.

Ramker and Stanton Lead Greene City Elections

Ramker and four incumbents were re elected in Greene's largest city vote. Charles Stanton won the fifth council seat as 467 registered voters cast ballots with 5 spoiled, 462 valid. Mayor Francis Knapp received one write in. Marble Rock and Bristow precincts also reported mayoral and council results with multiple named candidates and vote totals.

NROTC Examination Deadline Set for November 14

Jr Girl Scouts Collect Toys Drive for Charles City Needy Children

Junior Girl Scout Troop 278 calls for used but usable toys and games to collect through November. Wagons bicycles toy tractors tricycles and dolls needing minor repairs will be accepted and sent to Mr John Emerson in Charles City for repair and distribution to local children. Senior Girl Scout Conference Held Here

The 1969-70 Senior Conference of the Senior Girl Scouts gathered in Greene on November 1 and 2 with 165 girls from the North Iowa Council.Edward Neubauer spoke on understanding self and society to enable communication, followed by a banquet and regional recognitions. Cindy Fangman and Kath Johnson reported on a Seattle convention and the Action 79 plan to reduce racial barriers and prejudice.

Girl Scouts Begin Annual Finance Drive in Greene

North Town Girl Scout Council starts its November finance drive chaired by Gordon Schafer to fund camping, events, film and library access, training, and supervision for more than 5,100 girls across 12 counties. Greene contributes about 120 girls. The council operates two camps Camp Christie in Charles City and Camp Gaywood in Clear Lake with 22 day camps and 1,000-plus volunteers.
