The Music Mother's Carnival next Tuesday evening offers family fun and aims to raise funds for new band uniforms. Proceeds total zero dollars toward uniforms as the community joins in the merriment.
Mrs Earl Pond fractured her left hip in a fall Saturday afternoon at home and was transported by ambulance to Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City for treatment.
Edward J. Gallagher, candidate for Third District Congress, will spend a full day in Butler County on Thursday October 27. A Gallagher for Congress caravan is planned with stops in Greene at about 11 15 A M and visits to each town with residents. Other candidates will accompany the caravan.
A dinner meeting of the Butler County Tuberculosis and Health Association will be held at Hotel Allison on Thursday evening October 27. Mrs Vera Ewing Iowa Tuberculosis and Health consultant will attend and outline plans for the Christmas Seal sale. Dr David Carr Rochester Minnesota former chairman of the national committee on respiratory diseases urged more Christmas Seal funds be spent on research. The Butler County group has donated 1000 dollars for research in tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases, supplementing the national association’s research allocation.
Missionary Rev. Martin Heist will speak at Wilmar Lutheran Church on Sunday October 30 at 10 30 a m. Heist is on furlough from Lutheran Mission New Guinea and will discuss his work with the churchs international mission.

Jane Kretzschmar underwent an emergency appendectomy last Wednesday at Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City. Nelson Hartgraves had an emergency appendectomy late Friday at the same Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City.
County residents buy 9 655 730 in Series E and H savings bonds in September, near 1 million more than 1959 and 500 000 more than August. Nine month county total reaches 792 702 toward a 1 130 841 1960 quota, with national average at 71 6 percent and Butler county sales at 43 648 under volunteer chair John McWhirter of Allison.

Attendees learn lever moves to cast or change votes. no vote counts until curtain lever opens.

Proceeds fund new marching band uniforms with 84 eligible players but only 64 uniforms available at $82 each. Door prizes donated by local businesses.
Greene Ramblers moved toward Corn Bowl glory with a 39 7 win at Rockford. A win over Nashua Friday would clinch at least a share of the conference crown and likely the Little Brown Jug, with Greene aiming to end the season with a top standing and set up a decisive final matchup against Ackley next Wednesday.
The 1960 Rambler football squad will attend the University of Iowa Kansas game in Iowa City next Saturday October 29. All squad members their dads and any Quarterback Club members should notify Norman Wolters or Cecil Rhoads at the High School by Friday noon. Two buses are planned and knot hole tickets available to interested people.
Ray Schrody died Monday in a Prairie du Chien hospital from carcinoma. He coached Greene High School from 1934 to 1939. Survivors include his wife and daughter Diane. Funeral services are in Elkader on Friday morning with burial in Elk Hart cemetery.
Frank Kingery and his sister Mrs Dayton Mather return from a week visiting relatives in Wisconsin. They stayed with Mrs Elsie Reppert and family and Mrs Lucille Rivet in Stanley and with Mrs Elsie Lokken in Chili. Lokken is in ill health after ten years with Hodsein disease. The Indices are daughters of the late Wilt Flora family, formerly Greene residents.
Plan Party The Youth Center sponsors a Halloween party Saturday evening October Day from TS to P13. Activities include dances and card playing with refreshments served outdoors.
Private First Class Daryl Shook arrived for an eighty day furlough at his mother Mrs. Lyle Shook and grandmother Mrs. Mae Thorpe’s home. He has served with the Marines at Camp Pendleton California for about eighteen months and is scheduled for a year in Okinawa after his leave.
Cub Scouts join all Scouts in distributing Get Out The Vote door knob hangers as part of the Boy Scouts of America National Good Turn. All Cubs meet at the Scout Room above Dralles Department Store at 8 30 a.m. on Saturday October 29.
The Junior High Ramblers end the season 3 win 1 loss after a 19 to 0 defeat by Marble Rock on October 12 and a 19 to 6 win over Nora Springs on October 19. Roger Weichers Francis Menken and Paul Hamilton starred on offense while the team’s defense held Marble Rock out of their 20 yard line. B squad went 1 1 after beating Shell Rock 27 to 18 on October 20. All 7th and 8th graders play Friday night from 7 00 to 7 30 before Nashua game.
Edwin Henry Auchring of Belmond was fined 23 dollars and 13 dollars costs in the Justices of the Peace court for disturbing the peace presided by Frank Knight.
