The Shaw Lumber Company in New Hartford was broken into Monday morning and 2.50 in cash taken from the cash register through a back window. George's DX station near junction of Highway 3 and 14 West of Allison was broken into early Tuesday morning with batteries tires and anti-freeze valued about 480 dollars taken through a back door. The Butler County Sheriff's office is investigating.

Walter Martzahn died at his Greene home October 14 after asthma complications at age 72 years. He was born October 25 1887 in Lowden Iowa and lived on farms near Greene before retirement. Survived by wife Dora son Wilbur and grandchildren Harlan Delores Ardit. funeral at St Peter's Lutheran Church conducted by Rev I J Devies, burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Hamilton's Funeral Chapel coordinated arrangements.
Bert H Boyd Jr promoted to Master Sergeant in the Army He is son of Mr and Mrs B H Boyd of near Làredale grandson of Mrs Sarah Boyd and Mrs C H Eikenberry of Greene He entered service in 1945 and served nearly eight years overseas He is married to Marjorie Lee Love of Fountain Colorado They have five children Sharon Richard Michael Pamela Patricia The family lives at 507 Rosemont Drive Security Village Colorado Springs Colorado

Dr Maxwell Eldon Miller 55 died suddenly from a heart attack Saturday at Lake Park He was born December 1 1905 at Maynard and grew up in Greene He earned a DDS from the State University of Iowa in 1927 and practiced in Spencer before moving to Lake Park He was a Mason and Eastern Star survivor include his wife Ruth Eckerman son Dr Jack Miller three grandchildren his mother Ida Miller and sister Helene Boller Funeral services were to be held today at 2 00 PM at the Lake Park Methodist Church with burial in Lake Park
The Railway Express Office will close the Greene local agency in the near future with shipments moved by express truck from Charles City after the closure. Objections to the closing must be filed in writing with the Iowa State Commerce Commission in Des Moines by Saturday, October 29, 1960.

Greene Ramblers win their homecoming clash 25 to 12 over Saint Ansgar Saints clinching undisputed first in the conference. Steve Rattler led with 162 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns while Marsh and Wunsch contributed on offense and defense. Peters, Jewell, and Brinkman anchored the defense as Kittleson and Robe rtson supported the attack. The Saints fought back in the third quarter narrowing the gap but Greene answered with a late 46 yard pass for a score and held on.
Mary Lou Squires was crowned the 1960 Homecoming Queen at Greene High School during halftime of the Greene St Ansgar game. Attendants Carol Crosby Sandra Eckhoff Donna Hudson and Donna Reed received corsages as co-captains Dennis Wunsch and Tom Nixt crowned the queen. The day included a parade with floats decorated bicycles and costumed grade school children.
Margaret Lamb 78 died Tuesday morning at Clark Rest Home Greene Funeral services scheduled Friday at 2 PM at Bethel Baptist Church Marble Rock Hamilton's Funeral Chapel directing.
