Russell Ardell Fisk, 26, of Greene, was arrested in Charles City on Tuesday afternoon October 23 by Deputy Marvin Barth on a charge of making beer available to minors. He appeared in Frank Knight's Court, bond set at 1500 dollars for the next term, and was released after bond was furnished. Fisk is accused of buying four six packs of beer on Saturday October 13 for five Greene boys aged 14 to 18.

Pep buses will transport attendees to the football game at Rockford next Friday evening. The junior high will also provide a pep bus. The buses will be chaperoned and depart at 7:00 o clock Rem.
Washington Congressmember H R Gross a Republican from Waterloo achieved a perfect attendance and voting record in this session. He was present for all 293 roll calls and quorum calls, marking the fourth straight year of perfect attendance and seven such years in his 14 years in the Third Iowa District.
Butler County achieved 55 percent of its bond quota with September sales totaling 47 750 dollars, lifting nine month sales to 633 744 dollars. Iowa's state average for the period stood at 57 percent. County chairman John McWhirter of Allison reported Iowa’s nine month total at 84 861 120 dollars and September Iowa sales at 7 066 726 dollars.
Mrs Don Feldman underwent surgery last Friday at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. She expects to return home the latter part of this week.

A U S quarantine on all arms shipments to Cuba took effect at 8:00 a m as 25 Communist ships approach the blockade. Navy commanders were ordered to halt and search ships for offensive weapons. Defense Secretary McNamara cautioned some ships may carry such weapons and hinted at possible U N protests and Berlin Crisis links.
Approximately 2,000 fingerling largemouth bass were stocked in the Shell Rock River above the dam in Greene last Wednesday afternoon. The fish were trucked from the Lansing hatchery by Commission employee Lester Stahl. The stocking is part of an experimental program to test methods for improving fishing conditions in streams such as the Shell Rock, with ongoing checks on progress.

Frank Lahey of Wadena died Friday evening at his home after an extended illness. He is survived by two sisters Miss Agnes Lahey of Wadena and Mrs. Ella McEvoy of Greene. Funeral services were held at St. Josephs Church in Wadena with interment in the local cemetery.
Herman Rover was admitted to Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Saturday for a fractured right hip from a fall in a corn crib at his farm. He underwent surgery Monday morning.
David Osier returned to the Navy Base at Jacksonville Florida after a twelve day leave spent with his parents Mr and Mrs Donald Osier in the area.
Eight new members will join the Butler County Agricultural Extension Council for a two year term. Elections occur in eight townships November 1 through November 14 at local centers. Eligible voters include all resident qualified persons. council sets educational priorities and oversees finances and staff for ISU cooperative programs.
Dayton Township voters will use a new polling place starting with the November 6, 1962 general election. The site is one block east and one south of the Packard elevator, in the permanent building erected for election use after county purchase and a voting machine installed.

Butler County Republicans schedule a tour by H R Gross, Third District congressman, on Friday October 26. He will start with an 8:00 a m breakfast at Parkersburg, then visit Aplington Kesley Dumont Allison Greene Clarksville and Shell Rock for coffees and a noon luncheon, ending in Shell Rock.

Louis Higgins 68 of Davenport died in a Davenport hospital after a short illness that began at a football game Friday. Born in Greene he was the son of Mathew and Mrs Higgins and lived in Davenport for years. Survived by wife, son Robert, daughters Constance Monica and Gloria, all at home, brother Charlie Higgins of New Orleans and sister Josie Weston of Des Moines. Holy Family Church Davenport held services at 9:00 a.m. with interment in a cemetery.
Republicans schedule a county wide rally in New Hartford on Thursday November 1 at 7 30 pm Attending will be Representative H R Gross and Attorney General Evan Huitman The event is open to all residents and emphasizes broad participation.
Dallas D. Steere, son of Mrs. Grace Steere of Greene, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina. The report notes his physical condition and other standard entry remarks.
Mrs. Agnes Bragg was taken to City Friday night where she is undergoing treatment.
On leave Airman Brian Myers of the United States Navy finishes a course in Arresting Gear at the Naval Air Technical Training School in Philadelphia. He spends 30 days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleland Myers, near Aredale, before reporting back to the U S S Lexington in Pensacola Florida.
The first adult art class starts this evening at 7:00 at Greene Community School.
Klassi Motors sponsored contest at the Athletic Field named winners by age group. Eleven year olds Jim Shultz Tim Heidenwirth and Steve Schroeder led the eleven group while ten year olds Russell Stewart Gary Johnson and David Fischer, nine year old group Stanley Pyatt Danny Eimers and Bruce Litterer, eight year olds Joe Shultz David Boomgarden and Tom Heidenwirth, and seven year olds David Eimers Ricky Barry and Kenneth Wunsch earned top spots. Eighty boys participated as score cards advance to National Headquarters for national honors.
The Rev. John Rhode was installed as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton on Sunday morning. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Earnest H Rhode of Manchester, former Greene residents. He previously served parishes in Ramona South Dakota and in Merrill and Dubuque Iowa. The Rhode family and their five children moved from Dubuque to New Hampton last week.
