Butler County invites all high school students and parents to the County wide Career Conference on October 29 at 7 30 p m at the Allison High School Building. Richard Nystuen Cedar Falls Public Schools guidance director will speak on It s Your Decision. Two career sessions follow led by professionals across about 20 vocations.
One Farmers Incorporated Co operative Society announced its bulk petroleum plant will be completed by November 1. Vivian Kingery of Greene has been hired as manager of the petroleum department.
September sales of Series E United States savings bonds in Butler County totaled 81,713, boosting nine month county totals to 668,663 and the state to 88,665,340 for 1963. National figures show September sales at 8,163,083, up over September 1962 by more than 1 million dollars. John McWhirter, Allison volunteer county savings bonds chairman, released the report.
The November 1963 term of the Butler County District Court will convene November 12, 1963 with Hon A Beardmore of Charles City presiding. Trial jurors are to report November 18, 1963 at 10:00 am. Shooting hours are sunrise to sunset, except opening day noon to sunset, with bag and possession limits unchanged. Joe Whitaker and James Lee, both 16 and residents of Allison, appeared in Dean Wiegmanns Court on Thursday October 17. Whitaker faced charges of making beer available to a minor and receiving stolen goods under 2000 dollars, while Lee faced charges of making beer available to a minor and larceny under 2000 dollars. Both were bound over to Juvenile Court and released to their mothers custody. Information was signed by Marvin Barth, deputy sheriff.
Geo Sam Sneed, district manager for Woodmen Accident and Life Company in the Lincoln area, attended and completed a special course in personal insurance underwriting at the company's Lincoln home office. The program covered comprehensive study of various kinds of insurance.
The Wednesday Night Rollers at Greene Lanes show top scores with Charles Starkweather posting a high 247 game and 588 series. Three men appeared in Allison J P Court on Sunday morning Danvyne Charles Kasper of Perhersburg was arrested near New Hartford on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Kasper’s bond was set at 500 00, which was furnished and he is being held in Butler County jail. Gary Reynolds of Osceola and Chris Hatchett of South Dakota were arrested on a charge of Disturbing the Peace. Both men pleaded guilty and paid 1500 fines each.
Two people died in a foggy Saturday morning head on crash on Highway 14 five miles north of Parkersburg. Ira Wayne Pierce and Bruce D Henderson were killed instantly. Gordon Rohwedder was treated for cuts and bruises. Pierce funeral held in Roch ford. survivors include son Warne of Greene.
Eight Butler County townships will meet in early November to elect two-year representatives to the County Extension Council. Meetings list township, current member, date, time and place including Beaver Sidney Dean November 6 at New Hertford School and other locations such as La ksvale High School and Farm Bureau Auditoriums. Connells urged all residents to attend to choose a representative and enjoy the program.
Larry Blum son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Blum stationed with the Marine Reserves at Camp Lejeune North Carolina has been promoted to Private First Class. He arrived last Wednesday for a ten day furlough.
Butler County representatives were chosen for North Iowa Area Development committees and will begin work. The first all committee meeting is October 28 in Mason City at 7 30 pm. Eber Eldridge will discuss area development approaches and NIAD plans, with study committees electing chairs and arranging intensive research.

New residents Mr o and Mrs Orne G Epple welcome a son born October first. The infant is named Bernard Edwin, with Alanaparents listed as Mr and Mrs Ben Stubbe and Mr and Mrs Tt F Epple of Redaie. Grandparents include Mr Clarence Barnett of Greene Mio and Mrs Epple. The family resides in Honolulu, Hawaii where he is stationed with the United States Navy at the Sub novwine Bise.
St Ansgar Saints defeated the Greene Rambler 12 to 6 Friday night as Bill Owen scored on a 60 yard run and Dick Owen connected on short passes to engineer the win. Clapham rushed for 158 yards for Greene while St Ansgar improved their conference chances with key fumbles recovered and strong defense.
Bruce A Mead of Greene has been accepted for Air Force ROTC training at Iowa State University. He must complete two years of advanced training and a four week summer training camp after two years of basic training, an eight hour exam, a rigid physical, and an officer interview. He is a 1960 Greene Community School graduate, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Mead.
Neighbors gathered at the Gerald Hildebrand farm last Thursday to aid cleanup of the barn remains after an earlier wounding incident. Participants included Eldred Mather Gale Barth Claude Kannon Ott Menken Dean Ott Russell Poole Lewis DeGroot Darrell Brinkman Larry Simpson and Larry Blum.
