Dr. W A Krehl notes heart and circulatory diseases and cancer kill far more Iowans than traffic accidents with 16 889 died of cardiovascular causes and 4 766 of cancer in 1967 statewide. To Crown Dairy Princess October 24
Iowa Dairy Princess Barbara Halverson of Nevada will relinquish her crown to one of 36 County Dairy Princesses at the Savery Hotel in Des Moines on October 24. The pageant ends Thursday evening in Des Moines Grand Ballroom as part of the Dairy Associations of Iowa convention. The 1968 69 Iowa Dairy Princess will work part time for the American Dairy Association of Iowa and represent Iowa dairy farmers. Mrs. Ruth M Haugenbury, a long time Greene Community Elementary sixth grade teacher, was feted at a surprise coffee on October 8 at the Greene Community Library. Retired after a car accident she received a gold pendant watch and a red rose from the faculty led by Mrs. Helene Boller. She joined Greene elementary in 1956 after teaching in rural schools.

The Greene Ramblers spoiled North Central of Manly’s homecoming by overpowering the Falcons 39 to 12 on a soaked field. Greene built a 13 0 lead, with Stuntz, Shultz and Siemens scoring as North Central rallied to 13 12 at halftime. The Ramblers dominated after intermission, adding 26 more points while limiting NC to 3rd and 4th quarter scores, then secure reserves to finish.
