Plan for Intermittent Patrols on Secondary Roads
Sheriff Pete E Boomgarden announced a cooperative plan with the Iowa State Sheriff's Association and the Department of Public Safety to patrol secondary roads in Butler County and six county district. Lt Schneider said patrols will be intermittent to deter habitual reckless and intoxicated drivers, based on traffic maps and fatal accident sites. Details were finalized at a October 7 1957 meeting in Allison.

15 Enrolled in Young Farmer Class
Richard Wagoner a Greene Community School vocational agriculture instructor announced that 15 are enrolled in the Young Farmer Class held on alternate Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for 20 meetings. Butler County extension staff announced a week long enrollment period from October 4 to 19 to raise 4-H membership to 475 and grow clubs to 30. In the year ending September 30, 415 members belonged to 28 clubs, with 215 in agricultural clubs and 200 in home economics.
