Butler County Reaches 51 Percent Bond Quota For August
Butler County shows 51 percent of its 1967 savings bond quota as August sales near $500,000 above July totals. Statewide eight month sales total $69,599,320, hitting 57 percent of the state goal. Aplington’s Russell J. Perry notes Butler County eight month sales at $397,901 for 51 percent. Lyon County tops the state by reaching 100 percent of its 1967 quota in August, with Clayton, Decatur, and Van Buren also at 83 percent and advancing toward goal.

Land Bank Dividends Mailed October 1st
The Federal Land Bank Association at Hampton will pay more than $42,000 in dividends to its 673 members. Dividend checks will be mailed October 1 to farmers owning stock in the Association serving Franklin, Wright, and parts of Butler, Cerro Gordo and Hancock counties. The Hampton Association has paid dividends for 23 years, totaling over half a million dollars to stock holders. About 683 farmers in the region have $14,210,400 in long term farm loans outstanding, up $1,550 from last year. The association is one of 88 farmer owned Feder al Land Bank Associations in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming, under the Federal Land Bank of Omaha. Directors are: President Kenneth Showalter, Vice President Alvin Benson, Roger Rust, Chester Hill, Raymond A. Wickham, and Oscar A. Holmes.

Hunter Safety Course at Albrecht's Woods Field Day
About 170 Boy Scouts and leaders completed the Hunter Safety course during a field day at Albrecht's Woods south of Greene. Participants included scouts from Butler County towns attending a local camporee. The noon events featured a hunting dog demonstration and a gun bows and arrows display. Certificates will be mailed to all who passed the written test.

Greene blitzed Riceville 26 to 0 as homecoming night featured a dominant Ramblers performance.
