Death notice for Vern Streyffeler in Des Moines
Mrs. Darrell Needham received word Monday evening of the death of her brother Vern Streyffeler of Des Moines. The Greene Way Station will be open on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and will not be open on Friday nights.

Landers to Harvest With Enhanced 30 Inch Row Combines
The cutter head on the front of the combine harvests oats soybeans and other small grains. A bottom cutter bar chops at the base while a floating bar for beans follows terrain cutting closer to the ground. The machine handles five rows planted 34 inches apart now, with plans for 30 inch rows to harvest six rows. Within the combine pods separate from stalks and open in the cylinder while sieves purify the grain and a 150 bushel bin stores it. Chopped stalks exit the rear.

Greene High School Principal Mark Becker reported that Cindi Muhlenbruck and Joanne Senne are semifinalists for about 3,400 Merit Scholarships to be awarded in 1975. The semifinalists were top PSAT/NMSQT scorers nationwide among over one million takers in 17,000 schools.
