LeRoy E. Truax 25 of Parkersburg was arrested Friday by Allison Sheriff and appeared in Frank Knight's court on uttering false checks. He pleaded guilty, was fined 50 dollars plus costs, and agreed to restitution for the checks.

Patrons are urged to mail gift parcels for distant States during December 3-8 to assure delivery before Christmas. Local and nearby parcels should be mailed by December 12 while greeting cards for distant States must be sent by December 15 for Christmas Day delivery. Surface mail to Alaska and Hawaii not prepaid should go by December 1. No delivery of Christmas cards or letter mail on December 25 except special delivery.
The Greene Community School releases its first quarter honor roll listing seniors including JoAnn Backer Kent Burroughs Becky Clikeman Gloria Day and Philip Mead among others. juniors sophomores freshmen and eighth seven and seventh graders are named with many distinct surnames across grades.
The Church of the Brethren hosts a union Thanksgiving service this Wednesday at 730 PM with pastors from the Methodist and Presbyterian churches leading and special music by the host church. Reverend Harold S. Miller preaches on Giving Thanks Under Difficulty and an offering benefits Co. R. O. P. The program supports the Christian Rural Overseas Program aiding rural communities at home and abroad.
Ronnie Allen Butzlaff born April 1952 in Charles City, son of Darrell and Margaret Butzlaff, died November 15 after a shotgun accident at his home. He was a Greene Community School fifth grader and class vice president. Survivors include parents, grandmother Mrs. Carl Dreier, and four brothers. Funeral at St. Peter's Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. I J Devies. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Reid's Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
Ned Bailey age 66 of Bristow and John Kneppe age 67 of Allison pleaded guilty before Judge Wild in Allison District Court to lascivious acts with a child. Each received six months in county jail with the sentence suspended and parole to Henry Burma of Allison. Bailey was arrested in Bristow in September 1962 and Kneppe in Allison.
A Koffee Klatsch will be held in the Klassi building on Tuesday December 4 from 1 30 until 5 00 p m.The event features displays of traditions articles and foods from foreign countries including England Australia Scotland Germany France Mexico Switzerland and others.Handicraft department will display Christmas items for sale.
Melvina Debner returned home Saturday from Waterloo where she stayed with Mr and Mrs John Debner. She reported that Mr Debner returned to work at his Drug Store on Thursday.

Six Ramblers were named to the Corn Bowl All-Conference team at a banquet in Riceville last Wednesday night. Seniors Gary Rottler Dennis Eckhoff Nile Myers Eldred Kingery and Gary Weichers headline the squad with Rottler earning a second straight honor.

An authorized gun safety course will be held Monday evening at 7 in Greene High School music room. Sponsored by Explorers, Boy Scouts, Iowa State Conservation Commission, and the National Rifle Association, the session ends at 9 06 p.m. Those attending may buy a 10 cent NRA safety pamphlet and earn a shoulder patch after passing a short written test.

In Nora Springs on Friday, the Ramblers won 48 to 33 while the Ramblerettes defeated Riceville 39 to 24. Varied scoring from Eli Barth and Mike Jewell led Greene. notable defense and height advantage helped Daryl Fischer block several close shots.
The course covers types and uses of arms, care and storage, proper gun handling, safe hunting, bow and arrow handling, farmer-hunter relationships, and the hunter's arena of responsibility. Participants are asked to bring a pencil and scratch paper.
A public meeting on Financing the Schools in the Sixties will be held November 28 at 8:00 p.m. in the Allison high school with chair Cliff Burroughs and speakers Perry Grier and Glenn Holmes. Attendees from each Butler County High School District invited to discuss tax fairness and school funding. Jane Voigts, Greene, will join 4-H delegates to the National Club Congress in Chicago November 25-29, after earning honors in 4-H activities and Wartburg College freshman status. The congress, about Citizenship in Action, includes 1500 4-H members from 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Bassett resident Raymond Shefner was found guilty of reckless driving and fined 20 dollars with 4 dollars in costs. Fine amount and court action noted by Justice Fine J. P. Knight.
James H Graven underwent surgery last Thursday at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City. The patient is reported to be recovering.
The American Legion Auxiliary is gathering Butternut Coffee strips and labels from Instant Butternut Coffee jars. Strips will fund Christmas gifts for orphans and children of disabled veterans. Containers will be at Morey’s Westside Cheery, Dralle’s, and B and W Food Market.
