Pleasant Grove and Scott Townships will elect a Floyd County Extension Council member for a two year term on Thursday evening November 29. Pleasant Grove will host the election with Flood Creek 4-H Family Night at the Girls 4-H Building. 6:30 p.m. potluck and 8:00 p.m. program including Seattle Worlds Fair pictures and 4-H club activities. Incumbent Ludwig Moeller of Charles City and challenger Mrs. Robert Kock of Greene are named. Scott Township voting occurs at the Scott Center School with a musical program by the Scott Hustlerettes 4-H club at 8:00 p.m. Lunch follows. incumbent Rollin Howell of Rockford seeks re-election.
James Aswegen age 23 and Richard Comer age 18 from Aplington were arrested by Deputy Marvin Barth and Marshal Paul Manifold on Sunday night November 25 for stealing gasoline from Ivan Lindaman farm north of Aplington. They pled guilty in Parkersburg Justice court and were sentenced by Justice Paul Stewart to fifteen days in Allison county jail.
Mr and Mrs Henry Siemens and their children Jeanie Richard and Robert depart Tuesday night on a journey to Ostfries land Germany. They travel by train to Chicago and by jet to New York then Icelandic Airline Plane to Amsterdam where relatives will meet them Thursday afternoon and drive four hours to Ostfriesland. They will spend several weeks and Christmas with their parents and relatives. Mrs John Boelman of Clarksville accompanies them to Germany to visit her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Burdett Neal of Albany Georgia spent last week in the homes of Mrs. Ruby Johnson and in the Leon Steere and Merle Krueger residences.
Mrs. Lucille Knapp Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Knapp, Los Angeles, California, leaves Greene this week after a two week visit with her parents and other relatives and friends. The former Lucille Knapp plans to return home at week’s end.
Richard Staudt 39 of Rockford died Monday evening at St Marys Hospital Rochester Minnesota. Survived by wife two children Colleen and Mary Pat father Steven Staudt Rockford sister Mrs Ralph Willert Rockford. Funeral Thursday 10:00 am at St Marys Catholic Church Roseville. Rosary this evening 8:00 pm at Grossmann Hage Funeral Home Charles City.
The Story Hour at Greene Public Library will not be held this December. It will resume in January with the regular program reopening at the library.
Mrs. Kathryn Duffield reports the 1962 Christmas seal drive is progressing well with $180 received so far. She urges those who have not mailed in their seal envelopes to do so at once.
In Hospital James Graven, a patient at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City, underwent surgery and may return home this weekend. The report notes the patient’s condition is improving as he recovers from the procedure.
Nora Springs Eagles shot well to defeat Greene 57 to 47 as Tom Reuter scored 28 for Nora Springs. Ramblerettes outscored Nora Springs 56 to 37 led by Diane Cheney and Ruth Jepsen with 26 each and a strong helping cast. The junior squads beat Allison 44 to 26, with Stewart and Ott leading Rambler attack. Next Saturday Greene hosts Clarksville. Tuesday games omitted due to Christmas issue.
County 4-H officers plan a Senior 4-H Program for older members with goals of useful work experiences healthful living and personal growth. John Mohn and Dolores Schwerdtfeger announce aims including leadership cooperation and civic topics. The program targets members 16 or older by January and may include exchanges with other states and projects in government recreation and international affairs.
Judy Marie Katcher was born November 23 at Waverly Hospital in Waterloo and died November 25. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eugene Katcher of Waterloo. Survivors include paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Katcher of Clarksville and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Francis Wilson of Greene, plus sister Angela. Funeral services are today at Hammel Martin Funeral Home in Clarksville with burial in Clarksville Cemetery.
John McWhirter of Allison as county chairman appeals to all citizens to buy more E and H savings bonds to support government efforts in the Cuban crisis. October sales reached 47675 dollars, totaling 681419 dollars for 59 percent of the 1962 county quota, per Treasury Secretary Dillon.

Marilyn L Linnell daughter of Mr and Mrs Arvid Lindell underwent a tonsilectomy at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Monday morning.
Mrs. Bert Pooley and Mrs. Cliff Marlow of Waterloo attended funeral services for their cousin, Mrs. Lyle O'Brien, in Spelleville Wisconsin from Monday through Saturday. Mrs. O'Brien, formerly of Dallas Texas, was honored on Tuesday.
Funeral services were held at St. Theodore’s Church Albert Lea Minnesota for Anna Mae McEniry 77 of White Bear Lake wife of Mathew Leo McEniry. She died Thursday in St. Paul after a brief illness. Former Greene residents. Born Ler Iowa she lived in Albert Lea 37 years then moved to White Bear Lake five months ago. Surviving are son John Minneapolis daughter Mrs Robert Powell White Bear Lake sister Mrs Gertrude Solon Atlanta Georgia and six grandchildren.
Visited son Mr and Mrs Otto Schafer and Duane spent Thanksgiving weekend in the home of their son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Raymond Schafer and Judy at Granite City Illinois.
Mrs Agnes Bragg was admitted to Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Monday and is receiving treatment. Mrs Willard Marsh underwent surgery Tuesday morning at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City.

The junior high music groups and the fifth grade band and cadet band will present a concert at the high school auditorium next Tuesday evening December ath beginning at 8 00 o clock.
