Curtis said he will inform the press when information is received.
Mrs. Lois Pringle underwent surgery last Wednesday at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City.

Edward Max Chuck of Mason City was charged with speeding, $10.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Larry Schroeder of Rochester, Minnesota, was charged with speeding, $15.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Harold Holzschuh of Greene was charged with disturbing the peace with a horn, $10.00 fine, and $4.00 costs. Harold Vincent Neilly of Cedar Rapids was charged with costs.
Special Service Union Thanksgiving services will be held at the Methodist Church on Wednesday evening November 22nd at 7 30 Rev G F Butler pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will bring the message.

Approximately 300 people attended the Butler County 4-H Awards Night in Allison. Harold Sutton chaired the event as master of ceremonies. Jane Voights won the Chicago Award Trip for overall accomplishment, with Mrs. Ben Stubbe of Aredale among the leaders earning the trip. County medal awards went to Jane Voigts, Diane Murphy, Diane DeBerg, Nancy Kaiser, Becky Clikeman, Jean Brass, and Doug Jewell. Purple record book awards went to Marcelo Murphy, Denice Noelting, Jolene Mehmen, Jane Voights, Diane DeBerg, Nancy Kaiser, Dennis Schrage, Gordon Hansen, and Keith Bienemann. Bennedette Farmers Daughters and Coldwater County Cousins received awards for best historians books.
Mrs. Heinie Uhlenhopp of Dumont, chairwoman of the Butler County Cancer Crusade, reported this week that the county educational fundraising drive totaled $4,368.17, surpassing the $4,200 quota. Greene contributed $476.36, Coldwater Township $130.25, and Dayton Township $105.48.
Will Sylvester was brought home Sunday from University Hospitals in Iowa City where he had been a patient for three weeks following surgery.
George Martin Sherman 54 dies from a gunshot wound in his left thigh during a family dispute with wife Myrtle 44. Investigation ongoing. no charges filed. Professor Robert L. Yager of the State University of Iowa will visit Greene Community School on Monday November 20 as part of the Towa visiting scientist program. Yager teaches science education and specializes in plant physiology and chemical control of abscission.
Open house scheduled December 1 1961 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Butler County Warehouse and Garage in the northeast part of Allison. The event will educate attendees and feature equipment displays, a guest speaker, coffee and donuts, and door prizes from contractors suppliers and equipment firms. Public invited to view the new shop building.
Funeral services for Ben B. Van Horn 65 former Greene area resident were held at First Methodist Church Charles City. He was born in the Netherlands July 20 1896 came to the United States married Lola B Woodley February 22 1922 and lived in Allison Dumont Waverly before moving to Charles City in 1941. Survived by wife three sons two daughters four brothers four sisters and his mother.
Six Ramblers were named to the Corn Bowl All Conference football squad. Banquet honors were held Monday at St Ansgar. Included are Ends Gary Battler Greene Larry Petersen Riceville Tom Yezek Manly Larry Shanks Rockford. Back Doug Marsh Ronald Taylor Greene, others named across tackles guards centers and more.
New residents Mr and Mrs Elvin Kingery of Oak Ridge Tennessee are parents of a boy born Monday evening November 13 weighing six pounds seven ounces named Michael Elvin Elvin is the son of Mr and Mrs Vern Kingery of Marble Rock Rev and Mrs Don Neely of Lawton Oklahoma are parents of a daughter born Wednesday November 8 weighing eight pounds one ounce named Lisa Marie Mrs Neely is the former Elaine Barnhart daughter of Mr and Mrs Leslie Barnhart Rev Neely is an Army Chaplain at Fort Sill Oklahoma
Greene High School senior class has started a subscription drive sponsored by the Greene Recorder. Subscriptions run through November 20 as students raise money for their spring trip and other activities in the 1961 62 school year. Each student earns a set fee and may also earn personal money after meeting the requirement. Duplicate receipts will be given to buyers. Drive is led by sponsors Jack Sandy Kenneth Sutton and Arlene Brown.
The adult farmer class meets Monday November 20 to discuss Comparing Returns on Large and Small Farms. The young farmer class gathers Tuesday November 21 to cover Comparing Fertilizer Applications.
The Ramblers start the season Friday at Riceville with 27 players in training. Doug Marsh and Ken Barth are the only returning lettermen, and official practices began Monday, heightening the rush to sharpen touch for the opener.
The Music Mothers group met Monday afternoon in the high school cafeteria with 24 members. President Mrs Clyde Stuntz led the meeting. They discussed plans for the Quarterback Club banquet on November 28 in the Elementary School Building and wreath orders due by December 1. Mrs Dean Edwards presented Harvest and Autumn Songs with hymns history. Miss Glenda Landsgaard led the senior girls sextet in three numbers. members include Vae Brinkman Penny Wharton Diane Cheney Gloria Day Barbara Crooks and Sandra Edwards. Refreshments were provided by a committee headed by Mrs Robert Fischer.
Wednesday league results at Greene Lanes list Gambles and Albrecht Hatchery as top teams with Dean’s Radio and TV and Greene Farm Equipment close behind. High scorers include Elmer Stock Jim McLennan and Charles Starkweather across divisions with notable scores in the 500s and 600s.
Ackley defeated the Ramblers 13 to 7 to ruin Greene’s bid for an undefeated season. Weichers and Bissell sparked the Ackley rally after trailing 7 0 at halftime, while Greene lost key players Eckhoff and Rattler to injuries. The Ramblers tallied late but failed to overtake the hosts, ending with eight wins and one loss.

In the Old Smuggler Hole-In-One Sweepstakes Jim K Graven of Greene scored a hole in one at Round Grove Golf and Country Club. The winner will be announced early in January.
