The Iowa Conservation Commission announced the 1969 shotgun deer licenses were drawn on November 3. From 22,434 valid October applications, 18,000 licenses were allocated across five zones by computer. The State Conservation Commission announces state wide fur bearer seasons begin at noon November 15 and run to January 11 1970 for mink and muskrat. Long haired furbearers including raccoon badger skunk opossum and civet cat run to February 28 1970. Be careful on state game areas and refuges with permit only trapping and quotas set by the commission and the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. Permits available from the State Conservation Commission in Des Moines and from refuge offices. Beaver trapping runs December 13 to February 28 1970 statewide. Always seek permission before entering private land to avoid trespass closures.

State Auditor Reports 642 Delinquent Sales Tax Returns in Iowa
Auditor Lloyd R. Smith reports under Chapter 11 of the Iowa Code that as of May 2 the State of Iowa shows 642 delinquent sales tax returns totaling 575 423.47. Delinquencies range from six months to over two years with 1 069 45 owed by two Butler County retailers. He urges the Revenue Department to require bonding and securities deposits by permit holders to secure taxes and penalties due the state.
