Prayer Services For Steil Infant

Prayer services were held for James Dean Steil infant son of Mr and Mrs Alan Steil of rural Greene on Monday November 10 at the Hage Funeral Home with Rev W R Gjerde officiating. He was born November 8 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City and died Sunday morning. Survivors include parents a brother Alan Ray and grandparents Mr and Mrs Fred Steil of rural Charles City and Mrs Lud Sturges of Indianola. Interment was in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Kenneth Eliasen son of Mr and Mrs Howard Eliasen underwent a tonsillectomy last Tuesday November 4 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City. He was able to return home on November 5 with a normal recovery.

Mental Health Board Members are Selected

The Cedar Valley Mental Health Society met in Waverly to amend its Articles and shrink the board from 40 to 16 directors. Newly elected Butler County members are Rev. Donald Welsh G. E. County Association For Retarded Children To Meet Next Monday

The Butler County Association for Retarded Children will meet Monday evening November 17 at 8 00 p m in the Special Education Building in Allison. Diabetic Class at Floyd County Memorial Hospital

Drawing Held For 1969 Deer Licenses

The Iowa Conservation Commission announced the 1969 shotgun deer licenses were drawn on November 3. From 22,434 valid October applications, 18,000 licenses were allocated across five zones by computer. Successful applicants will receive licenses by mail. unsuccessful ones will get a certificate for 1970 first chance, with remittance returned. Free landowner-tenant licenses stay available at county recorders statewide.

Seven Ramblers Named All Conference 769 Football Team

Officials of the Corn Bowl Conference announced the All Conference team selections. Most of the 26 players are seniors with Tom Needham and Gary Johnson among the standout offensive stars. Debner led Greene's defense with 540 rushing yards and 52 tackles. Ruiz topped Greene with 73 tackles and 35 assists as Greene held opponents to about 73 rushing yards per game.

Two Local Students Named to All-State Band

Greene High School will celebrate two students, Lyle Williamson and Barbara Hanson, earning All-State Band honors after auditions in Webster City. They join 12 tubas and 12 tenor saxes for rehearsals in Des Moines on November 28 and 29 with a final concert at KRNT Theatre telecast later.

Schrage to Represent County Farm Bureau at Meeting

Lester Schrage of Allison will represent Butler county Farm Bureau members at the Iowa Farm Bureau annual meeting in Des Moines November 17 to 19. He serves as county voting delegate in the House of Delegates and helps discuss policy resolutions prepared by a state committee. The State Conservation Commission announces state wide fur bearer seasons begin at noon November 15 and run to January 11 1970 for mink and muskrat. Long haired furbearers including raccoon badger skunk opossum and civet cat run to February 28 1970. Be careful on state game areas and refuges with permit only trapping and quotas set by the commission and the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. Permits available from the State Conservation Commission in Des Moines and from refuge offices. Beaver trapping runs December 13 to February 28 1970 statewide. Always seek permission before entering private land to avoid trespass closures.

State Auditor Reports 642 Delinquent Sales Tax Returns in Iowa

Auditor Lloyd R. Smith reports under Chapter 11 of the Iowa Code that as of May 2 the State of Iowa shows 642 delinquent sales tax returns totaling 575 423.47. Delinquencies range from six months to over two years with 1 069 45 owed by two Butler County retailers. He urges the Revenue Department to require bonding and securities deposits by permit holders to secure taxes and penalties due the state.
