The annual Quarterback Club banquet honoring the Rambler football squad will be held Thursday evening at 6:30 in the high school auditorium. North High football coach Ray Pugh will speak as guest. The 1965 Rambler squad is tied with Nashua for first in the conference.

Frank W Schuknecht who resided in the Oakwood community moved on Saturday into the house he purchased from Louis Frascht on South First Street in Greene City.
Mrs Elbe Anderson of Nora Springs died October 28 at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City. A former matron at the Butler County Home from 1939 to 1959 she lived in Nora Springs since retirement. Survived by two daughters Mane Shepp and Beulah Stender, a son Lloyd postmaster at Nora Springs, and several grandchildren. Funeral at St Luke Lutheran Nora Springs followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery Rudd.
Frank Goodhue Hoel 73 died Friday afternoon October 20 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City after a heart attack. Born October 17 1891 in Minneapolis he was married to Grace Wamsley and lived in Greene County the last 21 years. Survivors include his wife two daughters Marian Whiteside Clarksville and Helen Swartzrock Rockford and three grandsons Ronald Merlyn and Allan Whiteside. Funeral services were held Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel officiated by Joseph Butler with burial at Lynwood Cemetery Clarksville.
Memorial pews will be dedicated at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Aredale next Sunday November 8 at 9:30 a m. The pews honor Henry and Louie Fassler former church members. Dr John Dowd Fort Dodge district conference superintendent will give the morning message.
Coldwater Township will hold a Friday election to elect a new representative to the County Extension Council from Coldwater Township. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Youth Center at Greene with a program and refreshments. The term runs January 1, 1965 to December 31, 1966.
Mrs Ina Whichel underwent surgery Monday at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City.
Public auction of household goods from the Perrin residence on Highway 14 to be conducted by C F Prange starting at 12 00 noon next Saturday November 7 at the Perrin house.
Leonard Morey and Mr and Mrs John Pyatt flew from Minneapolis to Los Angeles on Wednesday to visit their brother Victor Morey who is seriously ill in a local hospital.
Nashua Bulldogs defeat Greene Ramblers 25 to 6 at Rambler field. Strike, Wolff, and Luhring starred for Nashua while Weichers and Stewart led Greene on offense and defense. Nashua led 25 to 0 at halftime and added a late Greene score in the final quarter.
Henry N Graven of Greene joins the American Lutheran Church Board of Appeals at the second general convention in Columbus Ohio. Helen McBurney earns a baritone saxophone seat among 51 in the state after auditions. She is a Greene High senior daughter of Mr and Mrs Don McBurney. The All-State Festival unfolds November 28 at KRNT Theatre Des Moines with rehearsals over Thanksgiving. Fred Ebbs of Iowa directs the band. tickets available by KRNT Theatre Des Moines.
Officials of the Greene Commercial Club say local businesses will remain open on Armistice Day Wednesday November 11. The plan keeps shops operating as communities honor the holiday with routines unchanged for shoppers and workers.
Lila Schnee was admitted to Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City on Monday afternoon for observation and treatment.
Clarr Clifton of Council Bluffs Iowa died October 17 and his brother Floyd Clifton died October 25 in Pana Illinois. They lived in Greene County until about twenty years ago. Clair born June 18 1896 in Clinton Illinois and Floyd born February 20 1902 in Ramsey Illinois. Surviving siblings include Mont Clifton Hemet California Elsie Spires Decatur Illinois Cicey Shafer Greene Ruth Miller Downey California and Cuba Plant Riverside California. Clair survived by wife Veda one son Richard a daughter Maybeth and a granddaughter all of Council Bluffs. Floyd survived by wife Sadie of Pananois.
Walter Kedins of Tripoli Loui shester of Waverly David Earl Ochs of Garwin and William Benner of Plainfield were charged with entering the highway without stopping. Each paid a $1090 fine and $400 costs.
Five men from Butler County fire departments were inducted into the U S Army on November 21. The group includes Vernon A Schoneman Gary D Miller Delginrd Arjes Henry L Rover and Darrell F Prange all 21. A December call for induction seeks one more man.
Greene changes hands as Deli Curtis sell hardware store to Douglas Weather and Myrtle Sherman Clark sell Sportsmens Inn to Daniel Miller. Hardware store has a 50 year location history with prior owners Rohwedder family and Dell Curtis, with transfers dating back to 1915.
October enlistments in the US Army include Robert Warne Wyatt son of Mr and Mrs Harold Woeatt of Clarksville and Dean Allen Williams son of Mr and Mrs Charles Williams of Shel Rock. Recruiting Officer SFC Non Smith of the US Army Recruiting Station in Waterloo.
The senior class play dates were shifted from November 9 and 10 to Monday and Tuesday November 16 and 17, with performances beginning at 8 15 pm each night.
