Townships To Hold Extension Elections
County Extension Director Kay Connelly announces eight townships in Butler County will elect Extension Council members for two year terms this month. Elections are set for Jackson November 2 at 8 p.m. at the De Puew Diner and for Beaver November 4 at 8 p.m. at the New Hartford School. Other townships vote November 6 at 8 p.m. in Clarksville, November 8 at 8 p.m. at the Township hall in Madison, November 9 at 8 p.m. at Wygle School in Dayton, November 10 at 8 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Auditorium in Allison, November 13 at 8 p.m. at the Dumont school in Pittsford, and November 9 at 8 p.m. at the Boyd Building in Shell Rock. Each meeting includes a 4-H program and staff presentation. all township residents eligible to vote. The extension program is offered countywide in cooperation with Iowa State University and USDA.

Girl Scouts from sixth to ninth grade collected 88.43 dollars for UNICEF Monday night. After supper at the Youth Center they watched a film strip about UNICEF aid. Rites Held for D. C. Marsh 73 Greene resident dies
DeWitt Clinton Marsh 73 died of a heart attack on Tuesday noon October 24. He was born September 26 1888 in Floyd county near Greene. He married Pearl A. Whitson August 21 1913. They lived on a Greene area farm before retiring to town in 1946. Survived by wife son Ralph daughter Ruth Paplow brother Ira sister Retta Dunning five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral at First Methodist Church Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clayton Becker officiating. Burial Rose Hill cemetery. Reid Hamilton Funeral Chapel in charge.

Rites Held for Jesse Bige 28 in Tampa Florida
Jesse Bige 28 died last Wednesday at his Tampa home from complications of advanced age after a stroke on October 18. He was married to Minnie Pagles of Greene and they lived in Greene before moving to Tampa six years ago. Survivors include wife Minnie, three daughters Leila of Hollywood California and Mrs Louene Dean and Mrs Arlene Boland of Waterloo, two sons Donald Bige of Tampa and Erick Bige of Waterloo, plus several grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Kistner Funeral Home in Waterloo Monday afternoon.
