Bass Season Opens May 26 Across Iowa Waters
The State Conservation Commission announced bass season opens May 26 north of Highway 30 with continuous season south of that line and in boundary waters of the Mississippi and Missouri. Northeast Iowa streams show high turbid water limiting smallmouth fishing, suggesting trout flies and extra gear for opening day. Prime smallmouth fishing is in late summer and fall.
