Second Oral Polio Vaccine Shots Set For Thursday P.M.

The second Sabin oral vaccine dose will be given Thursday May 31 in Butler and Floyd Counties. Greene high school auditorium hosts the clinic from 1 00 to 6 00 p.m with school children receiving vaccines in the morning. The program is sponsored by Cedar Valley Medical Staff with Butler County Polio Foundation and promoted by The Woman's Club and Commercial Club.

Poppy Sale Totals $135 for Veterans Charity

Mrs. Bob O'Brien reports that $135 was collected Friday and Saturday in the annual poppy sale. Poppies are made by disabled veterans at Marshalltown Iowa Soldier's Home, Des Moines Veterans Hospital, and Clinton Domiciliary. Proceeds fund veteran rehabilitation and child welfare via the American Legion Auxiliary.

Larry Williamson Promoted to Hospital Man Third Class

Larry D. Williamson has been advanced to Hospital Man Third Class at a Naval hospital in Rota Spain. He arrived overseas in April 1961 and works in the medical supply office. Merchants Fall In Twelve Innings To Denver

The Greene Merchants lost to Denver 4 to 3 in twelve innings on Sunday. The game was tied 3 all after nine, with Nolte Sutton and Marsh pitching in shifts. Barth Sutton and Gabe led Greene with eight of twelve hits and scored one run each as Denver pulled ahead in extra frames.

John Van Eschen Seeks Butler County Attorney Nomination

Greene Iowa attorney John E Van Eschen has filed nomination papers on the Democratic ticket for Butler County Attorney. A 1958 University of Iowa Law School graduate he has practiced in Greene and serves as Butler County Democratic Chairman and a U S Naval Reserve lieutenant. Stock trout streams in northeast Iowa have all been stocked in the past two weeks. Conservation staff report streams in excellent condition despite frequent showers. Fisheries teams surveying Lake Macbride found abundant black crappies bass and walleyes in shallower areas.

Representing Greene At Band Festival

Miss Sheryl Jean Ott daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Ott has been chosen by Greene High School Band to represent Greene at the North Iowa Band Festival in Mason City on June 19. She played saxophone in the concert marching pep and dance bands and served as accompanist for mixed choir boys and girls glee clubs. Sheryl was active in speech and drama and served as band president. Her father is a farmer southeast of Greene.

Man Pleads Guilty in District Court Case

Max Darold Lindley, 33, of Clarksville pleaded guilty in District Court on May 28 to operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Judge Plummer fined $100 or 30 days. fine unpaid, Lindley jailed in Allison County. Lindley was arrested by the Highway Patrol in Greene on April 27, 1962.
