Funeral services for August Hauser of 416 Brasher Street Nashua were held Saturday May 12 at 2 pm with Chenowith and Son Funeral Home in charge and full military rites. A WWI veteran in the Signal Corps served in Europe and was a retired farmer in the Nashua Charles City area who moved to Nashua in 1971. He died after a lingering illness Tuesday evening May 8, having been hospitalized in VA facilities in Des Moines and Iowa City from August 25 to November 16, when he returned home and stayed in touch with Army buddies. Greene to Use Revenue Sharing for Water Project Funding
Mayor Arthur Weiss announced that revenue sharing funds for 1973 will finance additional water main projects in Greene. So far 9269 dollars plus local funds have supported water and sewer work, with about 5351 dollars expected January through July and remaining needs covered as projects are defined.

Butler County voters approved a new courthouse at a cost not to exceed 940000 with 2319 yes to 904 no. A separate 740000 bond and tax levy of 214 mills per year also passed by 69.79 percent. Beginners Band Starts at Greene Elementary School
A new beginners band is forming in the fourth grade at Greene Elementary. Free instrumental music lessons will be offered this summer with a two month trial rental plan for new instruments. Students showing ability will enter demonstrations tests and tryouts this week to join the regular band program. More information will be sent home to parents.
