Coach Max Dougherty’s golf team split results with Rockford, beating them 182 to 169 on Thursday and losing 180 to 173 on Monday. John McRoberts led Greene with 38 and 42 in the two meets, while Karl Sneed, Tim Heiden wirt h, and Greg Dralle contributed solid scores. Greene totaled 340 at Sumner sectional, placing fifth among 28. Rockford won by seven strokes.

The Greene Commercial Club at a special meeting voted to run Saturday night drawings starting in June using Greene Bucks as prizes. Residents 16 and older in the Greene trade area will register once for the summer, with duplicates removed. Prizes include twenty, ten, and five Greene Bucks redeemable anywhere in Greene, with one drawing per prize weekly.
The Butler County Dairy Day will be held in Greene on June 25 coordinated by the Dairy Promotion Committee and Greene Commercial Club. Highlights include a Dairy Princess Contest parade dairy bar and an evening program with contact through the Extension Office at Allison for entrants or sponsors.

An election of officers was held at the Jaycees meeting on Wednesday evening. The officers named are Norman Graven president Ronald Lauber vice president Charles Lucas secretary Gordon Menken treasurer James Menken state director and Galen Lindell and Lloyd Bigter members of the board of directors.
Partial reports from the Music Mothers fundraising drive indicate the group will surpass its $5,000 goal to pay for new band uniforms. Mrs. Herman Stubbe, drive chairman, says Greene businessmen have contributed $3,482 so far and a full accounting is hoped next week.
Mr and Mrs Louis Becker of Humboldt announce the birth of daughter Karen Michele on April 22. The infant has a brother named Mark, age 2 percent. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Henry Voigts of Greene.
Barth's bowling trophy tournament at El Bar Lanes completed rounds two and three with winners including Gary's Sinclair Fisher Construction El-Bar Lanes and Chevy II. High scores featured Galen Miller 201 and 214 for 584. Four finalists are Gary's Sinclair El-Bar Lanes Fisher Trucking and Chevy II.
Mr and Mrs DuWayne Stark of Ottumwa are the parents of a son named Jeffrey Lee born Thursday May 5 at St Josephs Hospital. The infant weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces. Bob Cooper manager of the Clear Lake Hatchery distributed 600000 walleye fry in the Shell Rock river and its tributaries Monday afternoon. Members of the local Sportsman's Club assisted in the distribution between Marble Rock and Shell Rock and in Ackley Creek Coldwater Creek and Crabapple Creek. Fry were also stocked in the Brinkman pond and tributaries above Shell Rock and Clarksville.

A goodwill deed was performed at Mrs. Henry Adelmunds farm on a Saturday afternoon as eight neighbors with tractors and equipment prepared about 35 acres for planting. Helpers included Clair Nettleton, Charles Pyatt, Lowell Allen, Eugene Steere, Paul Nixt, Dean Cole, Ronald Drakle and Elmer Litterer. Their wives supplied lunch.
The Rambler squad improved to 8 wins and 2 losses after a 9 to 5 victory over Nora Springs on Thursday. Greene’s pitchers walked 12 and allowed 6 hits as Ramblers pulled ahead late, with TL.van Gabe starting and Finners finishing after a tense seventh inning. Jeff Dralle, the catcher, and Barth in center provided key moments, while Dralle also sparked the 6th inning rally.
The high school will hold awards night next Tuesday, May 17, at 7:30 in the auditorium. Students will receive all year’s recognitions and the public is invited to attend.
The annual school music review produced by high school students will be held next Wednesday evening May 18 starting at 7 45. The program features the high school stage band instrumental groups and vocal groups. The public is invited to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bishop attend a two part concert at Upper Iowa University in Fayette on May 3. Esther Bishop sings as a Madrigal singer and soprano soloist. Neal Bishop performs with the University choir and orchestra in Mass in E Flat Major by Franz Schubert.
Greene Fire Department was called Saturday afternoon about 5:00 to extinguish a fire in the Verlyn Schrage car in front of the local high school. They answered again Monday at 11:35 to battle a blaze in Gordon Freese’s milk truck at the north end of North High Street, with a few wires burned off in the motor.
The Post Office Department designates May 16 to 21 as Mailbox Improvement Week to stress weatherproof neat and safe mail receptacles. Visible owner name aids delivery, mailboxes should be on the right side facing the carrier, and boxes and supports must be painted and rust free to improve service.

Mrs FE N McQuhichen came home Sunday evening after four weeks in Omaha at her son Al Post's home. Post was seriously hurt in a truck crash but is now recovering.

Mary Lou Murphy is named recipient of Clarke College Experienced Teacher Fellowship for the 1966 67 academic year and the 1967 summer. The $4,800 scholarship, plus benefits, is funded with U S Education Dept Title V grants and Clarke College tuition coverage. Murphy, a Northwest Missouri State College graduate, has studied at Mount Saint Clare College and Creighton University and taught in Ackley Hampton Nora Springs districts, now teaching second grade in Greene Community School System. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Keith Murphy of Greene.

Butler County Board of Supervisors awarded contracts to Greene Limestone Company, Paul Niemann Construction, and Martin Marietta for Class A crushed stone totaling 172,304.57 dollars for 110,646 tons. Hauling from Lubben Quarry south of Greene has begun with all work expected complete by end of July.
Captain Donald Neely and Mrs Neely with daughters arrived Monday evening to visit Mrs Grace Barnhart, mother of Mrs Neely. Rev Neely, a TS Army Chaplain, served three years in Braconne France and will report for duty at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri on May 31.
Norm Mielke's Rambler track squad took three firsts at the class B District meet in Cedar Falls on Friday and will enter three entries in the state meet in Des Moines next Saturday. Darwin Ramker remained undefeated by winning the 100 yard dash in 10.3 seconds and the 220 yard dash in 23. Jerry Shultz finished sixth in the mile with a time of 5:04.7 as part of the results.
