Communications Yeoman Charles W. Bochmann USN son of Mr and Mrs Henry F Bochmann Jr of Greene took part in the underway naval training exercise Blue Coral off the southern California coast as a crewmember of the guided missile cruiser USS Chicago. The week long exercise by the U S First Fleet refined surface to surface and surface to air warfare detection and destruction of subsurface craft with 21 air units and 25 ships. Pilots flew carrier based planes on bombing runs over a range on San Clemente Island. Drone aircraft were used as targets for pilots in air to air rocket firing. Participating ships trained under simulated battle conditions using hit and run tactics to engage and evade the enemy.

Butler County Enrichment Summer School Opens June 12 1967
The fifth annual Butler County Enrichment Summer School runs June 12 through July 21 1967 at Allison-Bristow High School with sessions 8:30 to 11:30 except July 4. The program is a joint effort by the Butler County Board of Education and seven local boards of education with a $3000 budget and $15 tuition per student. Enrollment deadlines include a nonrefundable $5 fee due May 12 for books and supplies. Courses include Art English Mathematics Science plus field trips to Guthrie Theatre Cedar Rapids Collins Radio and Lake Okoboji, with eligibility based on grade level and teacher recommendations.
