Butler County Awards Insurance Contracts 1967

On April 20 1967 the Butler County Board of Supervisors opened seven insurance quotations covering county offices for three years. Ten quotations assessed risks from automotive liability to public property with Don Harris Insurance Agency lowest at 8575.39 for year one. Sperry-Ray Insurance and Faber Insurance Co followed. A separate bridge bid was won by Kehe Construction Co for 19967.10 with work starting late June.

Navy Fire Control Technician Joins USS Black DD666

A group of forty neighbors and friends gathered at the Earl Herman farm on Tuesday to plow disc and drag in preparation to planting corn. Mr. Herman is recuperating from a recent auto accident. Presbyterians to Install Rev Donald Welsh in Greene Iowa

Rev Donald Kendall Welsh Sr. will be installed as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Greene on Sunday April 30 at 5:00 PM. A presbytery commission will meet at the church with Rev Walter Dutton of Waterloo presiding and delivering the installation prayers and questions. The service features Rev Dr Walter Kalvesmaki of Mason City delivering the sermon and Rev Dr Fred Langenberg charging the pastor. The Westmin ster Church’s Rev G Christie Swain will charge the congregation. After the service, the choir offers special music and Mrs Lowell McWilliams will play organ. The Welsh family from Henryetta Oklahoma will reside in the Presbyterian Manse. Everyone is invited to attend.

Mrs Cliff Fischer 70 died from a heart attack at Floyd County Veterans Memorial Hospital Charles City last Wednesday. Local Scout Wins God and Country Award

Larry Lester son of Mr and Mrs Donald Lester received the God and Country Award at services at the Methodist Church on Sunday April 16. The Scout must complete 150 hours in church work with study of church doctrines and service projects. Henry Smeins presented Larry to the congregation and Rev Wayne Gjerde pinned the medal. Russell J. Perry of Aplington, county savings bonds chairman, reported March sales of Series E and H bonds in Butler County totaled $75,034.
