Annual meeting attendance is 275. Parent-Teacher Conferences are planned for Thursday and Friday, April 4 and 5 at Greene Community school. No school for Kindergarten on both days and for grades 1-6 on Friday. Parents will receive conference cards by mail. questions directed to Elementary Secretary 9:00 to 11:30 A.M. at 823-5629.
The Greene Sportsman's Club held its annual meeting at the Veterans Club with oyster stew and smorgasbord. About 275 sportsmen attended. Officers elected: Leo Wilson president, Glenn M. Ressler vice president, Dale Schroeder secretary treasurer. Directors named for three years: Jack D. Shultz, Henry Smeins, Earl Herman, Russell Poole. Past president Wilson Clark becomes director. Remaining terms: Kenneth Muller, Melvin Yerkes, Neil Stauffer, J O'Brien Jr, Bill Walker. One year director Frank Meyne replaces Ressler. Jim Gregory and Ben Davis hosted conservation talks on fishing laws and boating regulations.

Two 17 year old youths Arthur Ray Pick and Paul F Ash town of Fairfield Ohio were apprehended Friday night in Charles City after admitting a spree that began Tuesday in Hamilton Ohio. They stole autos a pickup and a canoe across Ohio and Indiana and Illinois, ending with a car taken from Greene. They await FBI disposition in Floyd County jail.
Greene Community School announces that Pete Timmer, science instructor at Greene High School, won a scholarship grant to the State University of Iowa for the summer of 1963. Timmer, Wartburg College alum and Greene Schools employee for two years, will join the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study program.
Justice of Peace Court in Allison reports two cases. Donald L. Dietzler of Warsaw Wisconsin paid a 10 dollar fine and 4 dollar cost for a stop sign violation. Mengel Marvin Kruger of Waterloo paid a 10 dollar fine and 4 dollar cost for night time speeding.
Miss Jean Weld, appointed by the Association of Baptist for World Evangelism, will show slides and discuss the needs of East Pakistan at Calvary Baptist Church in Greene on Thursday March 28 at 7 30 p m. East Pakistan covers a large area with 45 million people, dense jungles, heat, rivers and rainfall. It contains 538000 villages many unreached by missionaries.
Mr and Mrs Leon Steere welcome a daughter born Friday March 22 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City weighing 7 pounds 4 ounces. The new arrival named Laurie Jo remained with parents after discharge on Tuesday.
The first annual Art Fair will be held at the Elementary School on Friday March 29 from 7 30 to 9 00 p m Exhibit displays include art from grades one through six and work by junior and senior high students George Bassett is the Greene Community School art instructor The event emphasizes art as a tool to develop manual emotional and intellectual growth and the broad value of creative expression for all students
Fines are recorded for several individuals: J. P. Moffett's Court Robert Barth of Greene charged with speeding, fined $15.00 plus $4.00 costs. H. J. Collins of Dumont charged with speeding, $20.00 fine and $4.00 costs. Duane Bill of Charles City charged with speeding, $10.00 fine and $4.00 costs. H. W. Tegtmeier of Rudd charged with disobeying a traffic device, $10.00 fine and $400 costs.
Michael Brunsma son of Mr and Mrs B G Brunsma is enlisted in the Air Force for four years. He begins with basic training at Lackland Air Force Base. His address reads AB Michael Brunsma AF 17651857 Box 1525 Flight 396 San Antonio Texas.
Fred G. Tjaden hosts a farm sale at his farm east of Greene on Thursday April 4 starting at 1 00 PM Auctioneer Gale Wiebke conducts the sale with local buyers and sellers anticipated to attend.
Mr and Mrs Roy Thompson came back last week after a stay of two and a half months in Punta Gorda Florida Their extended Florida visit concluded with their return to home and daily life.
Charles Nichols, Clarksville High School football coach for two years, resigns to take a similar post at Lake Mills Community School. The switch becomes effective after this school year ends. Nichols, a Greene High School graduate, is the son of Mr and Mrs Leonard Nichol.
John Jack Parkinson former Greene resident died of a heart attack Sunday in Bemidji Minnesota at age 95. Born Plainfield New Jersey January 17 1884 he lived with the Wm Martzahn family and had brothers Charles Frank and George Miner. Survived by daughter Inez Mrs Fred Warner of Grand Rapids Minnesota. Funeral held this afternoon in Bemidji.
James Leon Peterson, 24, of Hampton appeared in district court on Monday, March 25, pleading guilty to failing to prove or file financial responsibility. He was fined $100 plus $12 cost after being arrested by the Highway Patrol March 8 near Parkersburg.
A Social Security Administration District representative will visit Allison at the Court House on April 11 and 25 from 9:00 to 11:00 am. People may contact the Waterloo district office in room 702 of the Black Hawk Building at 234-1554.
About 100 people attended the annual Butler County 4-H Leader's Recognition Banquet on March 19. Harold Sutton received the meritorious service award for his work with 4-H, with pins and certificates presented by local organizations. The event featured speeches, slides on Germany by Carol Stine, entertainment, and a communal dinner served by the AmVet Auxiliary.
The annual Brownie Potluck Supper was held at Greene Elementary School on Wednesday March 20 at 630 p.m. Troops 291 311 and 208 performed songs dances and drills under leaders Mrs. Kehoe Mrs. John Hamilton Mrs. Max Weyand and others. Patrols presented songs and the group recited the Girl Scout Promise. Neighborhood chair Vernon Rutiler outlined upcoming changes for the September 1963 program.
Mr and Mrs Keith Murphy spent the weekend with their son-in-law and daughter Mr and Mrs John Wagner at Broadview Illinois. They attended the baptism of their grandson John Peter Wagner on Sunday. Miss JoAnn Murphy returned home with her parents on Sunday.
The thirty seventh annual convention of the Butler County Federated Womens Clubs will be held at the United Church of Christ in Allison on Thursday March 23. The Civil War Centennial theme features morning speaker Mrs Glenn Stockdale and afternoon address by Mrs Max Goldman of Forest City.
Bernard G Brunsman underwent major surgery at St Marys Hospital in Rochester Minnesota on Monday.
The Cub Scout Pack will hold its March meeting this evening at 7 30 at the elementary auditorium. No letters were sent to parents this month.
Style Show next Wednesday evening at the Greene Woman's Club features new trends in suits for young men and feminine fashions. The 8:00 curtain opens in the high school auditorium with outfits from Drake's Department Store Harrison's Junior Department Store and the Corner Dress Shop. Mrs. Harold Allison says the spring clothes evoke a wide 1963 presentation. The Top Twenty, the high school singing group directed by Miss Glenda Landsgaard, will perform.
Walter Thorpe went home Tuesday from Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City where he had been hospitalized since Thursday for medical treatment.

Private Bruce Maier arrived in Greene Saturday for a fifteen day leave with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Allan Mrs. Georgia Barth and other friends. At the end of his leave he will report to Tokyo Japan for duty.

Edna and Clyde Merfeld plan to relocate to New Virginia Iowa this weekend where Mrs Merfeld will oversee the Farmers Telephone Exchange and Clyde will be employed there. Freda Maass, patient at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City for five weeks, was moved to the home of neighbors Mr and Mrs George Beninga on Saturday where she will stay until she can return to her residence.
