February Iowa sales hit 9,853,664 dollars, about 200,000 dollars above last February, driving the state two-month total to 25,485,811 dollars and Butler County two-month total to 204,650 dollars.

Army Pvt Bruce F Maier completed an eight week communications center operation course at The Southeastern Signal School Fort Gordon Ga Maier entered the Army in October 1962 and received basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Mo He is a 1953 graduate of Greene Community School.
Justice of Peace Dean Wiegmann in Allison handled two cases. Glenda Landsgaard of Greene pleaded guilty to night time speeding on March 16 and paid ten dollars plus four dollars costs. Jack Wiese of Gilmore City pleaded guilty to entering a thru highway on March 18 and paid ten dollars plus four dollars costs.
The Woman's Club seeks a supervisor for six weeks of summer playground in the park. Applicants should have one year of college or equivalent and be interested in projects for children. Send applications to Mrs. Florian Rutz or Mrs. Harold Allison.
The Butler County Extension Council appointed 66 residents to help plan the 1964 Extension Service educational program. Six committees will address crops and soils, livestock and marketing, farm and home management, public affairs, family living, and youth. Findings will be presented to the Extension Council for approval in May or June. county residents may contribute suggestions by contacting council members or the Allson extension office.
Mr and Mrs B G Brunsma traveled to Rochester Minnesota on Tuesday where Brunsma entered Mayo Clinic for an examination.
The 1963 Senior Girl Scout Conference met in Charles City March 15–17 with 473 Senior Scouts and leaders from Golden Tassel Conestoga and North Iowa councils. Meetings were at Charles City Community High School. banquet at Immaculate Conception Auditorium.
The Greene Sportsman Club invites all members and prospective members to attend the annual meeting next Tuesday evening March 26 at the Veterans Club. A 6:30 oyster stew smorgasbord precedes the meeting. Two films, The Farmer and The Sportsman and Fishing in The Land of 10,000 Smokies, will be shown for about 45 minutes, covering hunting ducks pheasants and fishing for walleye northern pike muskies in North America. Officers for the coming year will be elected.
The Cub Scout Pack holds its March meeting at the elementary school on Wednesday evening March 27 at 7 30. Bear Jen No 3 will lead the program and direct activities for the group.

Peace Corps placement tests will be held in 823 cities nationwide next Saturday, March 23, with the nearest center in Mason City at Post Office Building Room 16. Tests start at 8:30 a.m. Opportunities span education, agriculture, health, construction, and community development. Space available entrants may take the test first then complete the questionnaire. Questionnaires available at post offices and should be submitted before testing. Additional tests are scheduled for April 27 and June 8, with June-trained applicants possible for more projects if they join the March 23 exam.
Word reached Greene of the death of Mrs. Irma Bieber Canova South Dakota on February 22. She was the daughter of Rev and Mrs Wm J H Knappe former Greene residents. Born in Greene, she was part of the local Lutheran Church history with her father serving as pastor. The Knappe family married in Greene in 1906 and lived here until 1913, now residing in Bartonville Illinois. Mrs Knappe and other relatives visited the church briefly on their way home from the funeral.
Dr. Harold Gunderson and Dr. E P Sylvester, Iowa State specialists, visit Allison on Friday March 29 to lead a weed and insect control meeting sponsored by Service. A 12 county North Iowa survey shows one quarter of young adults in the region entered unskilled work after high school. The study, led by County Superintendents and ISU, finds inadequate guidance and strong interest in vocational and technical courses, with demand for adult centers and shared costs.

Richard Bruce Hibben, 28, of Waterloo, pleaded guilty in District Court on Friday March 15 to a motor vehicle charge. Judge Wild fined him $300 plus $12 costs, paid. Hibben was arrested by the Highway Patrol and Shell Rock Marshal on March Siam Shell Rock.
