The Missionary Budget for the year was 1832.58 and the church year runs from March 1 to February 28.
The center section of the Powersville Dance Hall roof collapsed on Tuesday due to heavy snow. The building is owned by Garner Realty Co of Sioux City and operated as a dance hall by Sam Jensen of Charles City.
Mrs Frank Noehl returns from a six weeks vacation that included a Ski Tour of Europe. The journey covered Germany Austria Switzerland Italy and Ireland with several other stops. She stayed three days with relatives of the late Mr Noehl in Germany and spent a week with her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Nathaniel Armstrong in Fairland Indiana.

Carl Laverne Sidmore of Are dale was arrested Tuesday night by Sheriff Pete Boom garden on a second offense drunken driving charge after hitting a bridge north of Dumont. Bond set at $750, Sidmore arraigned in Frank Knight's court, released after bond on March 18. State Parole agent E H Linnenkamp of Clear Lake arrested Darold Marvin Wooldridge of Aplington in Waterloo on parole violation. he was taken to Anamosa Saturday to serve a ten year larceny sentence.
The sub district F F A contest was held at Cresco on Tuesday March 10. David Butterbrodt won a Gold award in Public Speaking and Bruce Cheney earned a Bronze in Freshman Creed Speaking. David will advance to the NE District F F A contest at Sumner on March 21.

Peter Van Metre, 33, of Waterloo, was appointed district court judge by Governor Herschel Loveless in Waterloo to replace the late Horace Van Metre. His term runs through the next general election and he is among the youngest district judges in Iowa. the 10th district covers Black Hawk Buchanan Delaware and Grundy counties.
Mrs. M. K. Sperry reports the Butler County Heart Fund drive closed with 827.08 collected from Greene, Coldwater, Dayton and Bennedette townships. Greene contributed 371.31 with 825 of that as a Leo Downing memorial. Receipts exceeded last year by 38.81, with Coldwater 87.25, Dayton 100.02 and Bennedette 66.50.
The case Henry Schmidt versus Henry Rover in Coldwater town was dismissed by Judge C. H. Wild at Schmidt's expense for lack of prosecution under court rules.
Easter Seal Drive started last week and runs through April marking 38 years of service to crippled children and adults in Towa and Butler County. The Iowa Easter Seal Society is a statewide non profit with 90 percent of funds used locally. Treatment centers are Burlington, Council Bluffs, Decorah, Des Moines, Mason City and Waterloo with plans for more communities. A summer camp for crippled children is being built. Kathryn Miller of Aplington is Butler County chairman.
Lena Prebbenow suffered a broken left hip after a dizzy spell caused a fall Friday morning at Hulda Starkweather's home. She was admitted to Cedar Valley Hospital where the fracture was set.
