James Lawrence Agnew born August 28 1869 in Burlington died March 3 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital Charles City aged 95. Atlas Company of Minneapolis announces plans to compile a new county atlas of Butler County. New township maps will locate lakes, sloughs, roads, rivers, farms, and shelter belts. The atlas will list landowners, farmers, families, addresses, and phone numbers with data checked against courthouse records.

Dog Rescued From Shell Rock River in Greene

Ronald Lauber's Spitz dog was rescued from the Shell Rock River in Greene about 10 15 Thursday morning after falling in behind the Root Beer Stand. The two Collies swam ashore. Duane Trees used a ladder on the ice to reach the stranded dog believed to have been in the water at least thirty minutes.

The Iowa Towa State Tax Commission reports Butler County sales and use tax receipts for quarter ending December 31, 1964. Greene tops towns with 17 679 31, Allison 15 065 23, followed by Clarksville, Parkersburg, Shell Rock, Aplington, Dumont, and New Hartford with varying sums. Population under 500 towns posted 1 822 46. new permits 87 53. rural businesses 3 603 21. 206 new vehicles and trailers were registered totaling 11 349 58.
