North Iowa Grade School Music Festival sees Greene lead entries
The 17th Annual Invitational North Iowa Grade School Music Festival at Mason City drew 248 participants from multiple districts, with Greene County leading at 128 solos and 40 ensembles. Readouts include 104 blue or superior ribbons and 54 red or excellent ratings, with numerous named soloists and ensemble groups across woodwinds brass and percussion.

Greene High musicians set for Dorian Festival at Luther College
Four Greene High School musicians Robbin Helm Jayne Tinderholt Mary Zimmerman and Calvin Schafer will join 600 plus students from 123 high schools in Iowa Wisconsin Minnesota and South Dakota at the 24th annual Dorian Instrumental Festival at Luther College on Sunday and Monday March 4 and 5. The festival concludes with a Grand Concert Monday starting at 7 30 p m in the Luther Field House featuring a combined festival band outstanding soloists and the Luther Concert Band. Opening night includes two concerts at no charge with a 4 p m Luther College Varsity Band show and an 8 30 p m Waverly Shell Rock High School Band performance.

Death of Douglas Dawson in Kempston England
Mr and Mrs Orville Stewart received word of the sudden death of Mrs Stewart’s twin sister’s husband Douglas Dawson aged 32 on Saturday February 17 in Kempston England. He is survived by his wife and two sons. Dawson had visited the Stewarts in the spring.
